Position Title: SENIOR DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
Reports to: Vice President for Business and Finance

Primary Function: The Senior Director of Institutional Advancement and Public Relations is responsible for planning, organizing and directing a comprehensive program for institutional advancement in the areas of fundraising, public relations, public information, marketing and regent and alumni services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To work with the Vice President for Business and Finance to plan, organize and implement the total program of institutional advancement, including the development and implementation of annual departmental goals and objectives

2. To hire, with the approval of the president, train and supervise, set direction, and support the goals for each member of the Institutional Advancement team. Ensure that each individual clearly understands his/her responsibilities and objectives. Provide regular performance feedback, including annual performance appraisals, for the purpose of supporting the professional growth and talents of each team member.

3. To prepare and submit the annual budget for the Department of Institutional Advancement inclusive of Public Relations and Alumni Relations

4. To work with the Vice President for Business and Finance to ensure that all resources are in place to support the College’s long-term financial stability by designing and implementing strategies for raising funds to support current and future operations.

5. To submit weekly reports on how the Department of Institutional Advancement is meeting its goals and objectives

6. Oversee the gift reporting, acknowledgements, accounting and data management of the Institutional Advancement office.
1. Coordinate the annual recognition programs and supervise the implementation of the annual giving campaign.

8. To serve on the Administrative Council and the Strategic Planning Committee

9. To develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to include the grant acquisitions, annual fund, business and community support, capital campaigns, and gift-in-kind donations

10. Plan and implement, in cooperation with the Director of Public Relations, a comprehensive long-range Institutional Advancement marketing plan including outreach into the community and internal and external communications. Review, evaluate and update this plan annually.

11. To develop and maintain an on-going rapport with Sherman alumni, regents and other friends of the college

12. To coordinate departmental responsibilities associated with the annual Lyceum

13. To supervise and assist in writing and editing all institutional publications and planning manuals

14. To plan, coordinate and implement community-related events

15. To represent the College in local civic and professional organizations

16. To coordinate all vendor/supplier special programs, including the Honor Wall Program

17. Lend enthusiastic support to college policies and to fellow co-workers, particularly in the presence of students and support personnel

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

Position Title: Network Administrator

Primary Function: To ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the college’s information systems that support core organizational functions. The Network Administrator will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To work in accordance with the needs of the faculty, staff and administration to develop and implement a viable strategic technology plan for the college
2. Research and evaluation of new technology and recommending purchases in support of Sherman College educational initiatives
3. Perform installations, configurations, and maintenance of both physical and virtual computer servers
4. To negotiate with vendors to obtain the best terms for the college on the acquisition of computer hardware and software
5. Plans, controls and executes projects within time and cost objectives
6. Reports progress and exceptions to upper management in a timely manner and consults and advices on new project opportunities and proposals

Position Title: GROUNDS HELPER

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Grounds Supervisor

Primary Function: The grounds helper is responsible for caring for all improved and natural grounds areas of the campus including maintenance and repair of the parking lots and all turf and ornamental plantings.
Key Responsibilities:

1. To observe all safety procedures and practices

2. To follow the directions of the Grounds Supervisor and the Director of Maintenance.

3. Perform routine maintenance and minor repair of all equipment

4. Assist in care of all grounds including:

Turf – mowing, string trimming, edging walks, seeding, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control
Flowers – planting and care
Trees – pruning and removal, fertilize, plant, damage repair, and pest control
Shrubs – planting and/or removal, pruning, pest control, fertilization
Weeds – control measures
Mulching – as needed
Trash – all entrances, grounds and roadways

5. To operate hydrostatic tractor, walk behind mower, sprayers, fertilizer spreader, bushhog, front-end loader, etc.

6. Winter snow removal

7. Assist in all maintenance and security issues as needed

Primary Function: The x-ray technical support is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging ordered by the staff of the health center and performing other tasks assigned by the Chair of the Radiology Department and/or the Dean of Clinic Operations and Outreach during normal operating hours of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

A. X-ray department operation

  1. To supervise x-ray exposures performed by interns while on duty
  2. To assist with the maintenance of an efficiently run x-ray department
  3. To provide hands-on instruction and integration of didactic radiographic course material into the practical application of chiropractic radiography
  4. To perform a screening of radiographs for analytical quality and proper positioning
  5. To recognize contraindications to, and potential complications of adjustive or radiographic procedures
  6. To keep abreast of current events, trends, research, literature and techniques within radiology
  7. To train and supervise college work-study students working in the x-ray department
  8. To assist with the maintenance of accurate department records
  9. To participate as an examiner, proctor or exam materials writer for the Clinic Entrance Exam and/or the Clinical Proficiency Examination (Exit Exam) as needed
  10. To report violations of the health center policies and procedures to the director of x-ray
  11. To assist with the quality assurance program to monitor x-ray unit function
  12. To conduct and provide written evaluations of interns’ x-ray positioning proficiency as determined by the director of x-ray
  13. To consistently produce the highest quality radiographs while maintaining patient safety
  14. To assure compliance with all applicable South Carolina DHEC rules and regulations concerning radiographic equipment and patient safety

  5. Understanding of conventional radiography

  7. Good communication and organizational skills

Faculty Workload Expectations

For each primary teaching contact hour per week, approximately one hour of preparation time, including office hours, service and scholarly activity is expected. For each assistant contact hour, approximately one-half hour of preparation time is expected. This work, other than required office hours, can be done at home or at school. For full time academic and clinic faculty, a minimum of one hour per day is to be set-aside for on-campus office hours, when students can be sure that the faculty member is in his/her office, and is available for consultation in addition to classroom and Health Center hours. The faculty member is also to be available when needed for school business.

If a full-time faculty member is enrolled at the college, he/she is limited to 180 hours of course work per quarter. Other work unrelated to the faculty member’s duties must be approved each year by the vice president for academic affairs and the president (e.g., outside employment).

Sherman College has established 20 contact hours per week as a primary instructor or 28 contact hours per week as an assistant instructor in classes. Faculty members are allowed an overload each term not to exceed 120% of a full time load. Overloads exceeding 120% must be approved by the president and are only used as a last option to serve the needs of the students.
