Guangming Wu, PhD

Guangming Wu, PhD, is an associate professor of basic sciences.  He has a Ph.D. from Shanghai Medical University (now Medical College of Fudan University) in Shanghai and a master’s degree from Jiangxi Medical College of China. Wu was a post-doctoral fellow at the Shanghai Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai, and a teacher at the Shantou Medical University in Guangdong. Prior to joining the faculty at Sherman in 2008, Wu was a research scientist at Vanderbilt Eye Institute of Vanderbilt University.

He is interested in the following research projects:

• Glaucoma research on DBA2J mouse model.
• Isolating, characterizing and localizing RyR3 in mammalian animal.
• Morphometrical study for protein kinase C (PKC) activity on triad of frog skeletal muscle fibers.
• Elucidating morphological phenomena on the innervations of the heart in mammals.
• Investigating architecture of brain vessels on brain stem.
• Relationship between muscular structure/function and subluxation.

Dr. Wu believes Sherman has wonderful students because the college holds a philosophy for educating students to serve people with ethics and passion.

Mentoring & Advisement Program for Students

Faculty advisors, known as “mentors,” meet with their assigned students on a regular basis. Their role is to assist and encourage students in:

• overcoming academic challenges
• developing social and self-responsibility
• setting and achieving professional goals

The registrar assigns a faculty mentor to all entering students. New students meet their faculty mentors during New Student Orientation.
