Sherman College of Chiropractic will host the 11th annual International Research and Philosophy Symposium (IRAPS), the only peer-reviewed conference on vertebral subluxation research and the philosophy of chiropractic. The conference will be held October 18-19 on the campus of Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The theme this year is The Future of Subluxation-Centered Chiropractic. It is a pivotal time in the history of the chiropractic profession. The role of philosophy and research will play important roles in defining the profession for the future. The theme is designed to allow participants to orient their papers and their poster presentations towards the future.

  • Where is subluxation-centered chiropractic going?
  • What role will research play?
  • How will the philosophy adapt?
  • How might we help to ensure that subluxation-centered chiropractic not only survives but thrives?

The theme will set the tone for the conference, which will include a keynote speaker, who will offer a vision for chiropractic’s future in research and philosophy.

The goal of IRAPS 2014 is to bring together the leaders in philosophy and research centered on the vertebral subluxation to build a stronger academic community worldwide. Our hope is to foster a view that the chiropractic profession continue to be:

  • Centered on vertebral subluxation
  • Based on vitalism
  • Dedicated to research
  • Developing a discipline of philosophy
