Certification Program

Registration Brochure - State approvals

Sherman College is proud to have partnered over 10 years with the Sweat Institute and the estimable Drs. Roy and Matthew Sweat for the Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal program (B.C.A.O.) and we look forward to making 2012 the best yet!

Atlas Orthogonality refers to the proper alignment of the atlas vertebra beneath the skull, ensuring the normal positioning of vertebrae of the rest of the spinal column in relationship to each other.  The result is a clear and unobstructed path for the spinal nerves, spinal cord and vertebral arteries, thereby permitting natural function, mobility and health.

Atlas Orthogonal (SCALE-Stereotactic Cervical ALignment methods) is a spinal healthcare program developed by Dr. Roy Sweat based on scientific and biomechanical procedures. Dr. Sweat is considered by many to be one of the world's foremost authorities on the cervical spine. After years of extensive research he developed a non-invasive, precision instrument to restore structural integrity from cervical vertebral malposition. The percussion instrument achieves postural restoration without manipulation or surgery. This precision treatment reduces cervical spine misalignment and its related symptomatology

Program Requisites: The doctor or student must have previously completed 100 hours of Basic Atlas Orthogonal Training (A.O.T.) seminars, including one A.O.T. Dissection

He is highly regarded in the areas of research and technique and is the creator of the Atlas Orthogonal Technique, a precise system of x-ray and spinal analysis which uses a specific method of adjusting the atlas subluxation. Sweat has authored four books and published numerous articles. He is designer of the Atlas Orthogonal Adjusting Instrument, adjusting tables and x-ray machine attachments. He teaches Atlas Orthogonal courses and has more than 30 years of experience teaching in-depth dissection labs.

Matthew Sweatt, DC
