SACS

Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award the doctor of chiropractic degree. www.sacscoc.org.

The college has worked diligently to meet SACS requirements and will continue to carry out its plan of action (reviewed by SACS at its June 2008 meeting) to satisfy the commission and remain on track for reaffirmation in June 2009. It is important to note that the college remains accredited with SACS through this process.

TIMELINE

  • December 2007:  SACS Commission on Colleges continued Sherman College’s accreditation, but placed the college on warning for failure to comply with Core Requirement 2.12 (Quality Enhancement Plan).
  • January 2008:  SACS provided information to assist the college in its efforts to refine the QEP to satisfy the Commission. The process involved students, faculty and staff.
  • April 2008:  SACS sent a Special Committee to review the college’s adherence to important academic integrity, grievance and governance policies.
  • June 2008:  The Commission continued the college’s accreditation and placed the college on probation for a period of one year.  SACS Commission on Colleges was encouraged by the college’s progress and corrective actions made thus far. The progress was sufficient to allow the Commission to continue the college’s accreditation and provide the college time to demonstrate continuous cultural change. 
  • March 2009:  The college will provide a Progress Report to the SACS Commission in March 2009 in preparation for a subsequent Special Committee visit the college in April 2009 to review the college’s progress made since April 2008.
  • June 2009:  The SACS Commission will review the college’s progress and will once again consider reaffirmation.
