  • Registrar

     

    Department: Academic Affairs

    Reports To:  Vice President for Academic Affairs

    Classification/FLSA Status:  Level II (Exempt Administrative)

     

    Primary Function:     The registrar maintains academic student records and provides academic related services including class scheduling, registration, academic advising, and mentoring and tutoring programs.                          

     

    Key Responsibilities:            

    1. Maintain complete, accurate student academic records.
    2. Ensure the security of student records in both hard copy and electronic formats.
    3. Hire, with the approval of the vice president for academic affairs, train and supervise all staff members for the office of the registrar.
    4. Prepare and submit an annual budget for the office of the registrar.
    5. Prepare and submit to the vice president for academic affairs semi-annual and annual effectiveness reports.
    6. Set annual goals that will contribute to the attainment of college goals and objectives.
    7. Plan and conduct registration.
    8. Plan and develop quarterly class offerings and exam schedules.
    9. Ensure that classrooms and laboratory space are utilized efficiently.
    10. Provide scheduling advice and assistance to students.
    11. Provide various student services, i.e., transcript, enrollment and credential verification, national and state board application assistance, etc.
    12. Develop and manage the academic advisement program.
    13. Develop and manage the college’s mentoring program.
    14. Manage the college’s tutoring program.
    15. Plan, compile and distribute academic calendars, quarter offerings and schedules and examination schedules.
    16. Maintain the enrollment projections chart and report enrollment data to federal, state and accrediting agenciess.
    17. Serve as a member of the Academic Affairs, Admission and Curriculum Review Committees.
    18. Lend enthusiastic support to college policies and to fellow co-workers, particularly in the presence of students and support personnel.
    19. Participate in the annual Lyceum program.
    20. Assume such other duties as assigned by the vice president for academic affairs.
    21. Support the mission of Sherman College and The Sherman Chiropractor in any way correlated to the position.


    Essential Knowledge and Skills:

    1. Bachelor’s degree
    2. One to three years experience in same or related field

  • Administrative Assistant   

    Department:  Institutional Advancement

    Reports to:     Vice President for Institutional Advancement

    Classification/FLSA Status: Level III (Non-Exempt – Part Time)

     

    Primary Function:    Performs secretarial and general office work to relieve the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the Director of Alumni Relations as directed, of clerical details and to assist in the development, coordination and implementation of departmental projects to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Manage “to be filed” material properly and have those materials properly filed daily (oversee work-study student)
    2. Receive and distribute all incoming mail for department and deliver same within one hour of mail arrival
    3. Perform or arrange for copying/printing/mailing for department as required (letters, direct mail pieces, postcards, donation statements, etc.)
    4. Track utilization of supplies and prepare purchase orders to maintain supply levels, including office supplies, direct mail and paper supplies, etc.
    5. Maintain, research and compile information and provide statistics for various projects and reports as directed by the vice president for institutional advancement
    6. Process monthly and quarterly donation reports and reconcile financial numbers with the Business Office
    7. Process donations promptly and accurately including thank you letters
    8. Manage and update CAMS records to ensure reliable data
    9. Manage direct mail campaigns (ADJUST Fund/end of the year/Honor Wall/Reunion Year/Phonathon/prepare mailing, mailing labels and arrange for mail house, mail follow-up reminders)
    10. Lend enthusiastic support to college policies and to fellow co-workers, particularly in the presence of students.
    11. Participate in the annual Lyceum program
    12. Other responsibilities consistent with this job as assigned by vice president of institutional advancement
    13. Commitment to the mission of Sherman College and support of The Sherman Chiropractor in any way correlated to the position.

  • Vice President Enrollment Services
    Reports to: President
    Classification/FLEA Status: Level I (Exempt Executive)

    Primary Function: The vice president for enrollment services is responsible for the supervision of the Department of Enrollment Services and the design and implementation of the admission, recruitment, public relations and financial aid programs.

    Key Responsibilities:
    1. To oversee the operations of the Admission, Financial Aid and Public Relations Offices, including supervision of Director of Admission, Director of Financial Aid and Director of Public Relations
    2. To create, implement and evaluate the annual student recruitment/marketing plan and the integrated marketing plan
    3. To hire, with the approval of the president, and train all enrollment services staff
    4. To prepare and submit the annual budget for the Department of Enrollment Services (includes Offices of Admission, Financial Aid and Public Relations)

  • Director of Institutional Effectiveness
    Reports to: President
    Classification/FLSA Status: Level II (Exempt Administrative)

    Primary Function: The director of institutional effectiveness is responsible for directing institutional research, strategic planning and continuous improvement processes. The director serves as the college's accreditation liaison coordinating accreditation and outside agency reporting and site visits. The director routinely interacts with all department heads and their support personnel, outside agencies and board members while conducting data management activities and assists in carrying out the mission of the college.

    Key Responsibilities in Planning and Assessment:
    1. To supervise and coordinate ongoing, formal planning and
    assessment processes, both strategic and continuous improvement, that
    involve appropriate college constituencies, enhance the college's short-
    and long-term accomplishment of its mission and objectives, and assure
    its compliance with accreditation standards
    2. To supervise the college's accreditation activities,
    including: serving as the liaison between the college and its
    accrediting agencies; coordinating the data acquisition for, compiling
    and editing the necessary studies and reports; and assisting all college
    departments in accomplishing their accreditation-related
    responsibilities
    3. To prepare and submit an annual budget recommendation for the
    Office of Institutional Effectiveness
    4. To serve as the chair of the Institutional Effectiveness
    Committee and as a member of the Administrative Council and other
    college committees as assigned
    5. To collaborate with each department in enhancing its
    operation through institutional research, including identifying
    pertinent questions and the data needed to answer them; developing
    instruments for gathering and analyzing the appropriate data; and
    disseminating the data, analysis and conclusions to all appropriate
    constituencies in optimally utilizable formats
    6. To educate administrative and academic personnel in effective
    planning and assessment methodologies and utilization, in order to
    instill a greater understanding of and commitment to strategic and
    continuous improvement through assessment among all constituencies of
    the college
    7. To organize and conduct meetings, retreats, focus groups
    and/or interviews necessary to facilitate and accomplish the college's
    strategic and continuous improvement processes
    8. To ensure compliance with college policies and procedures,
    county, state, and federal regulations and accreditation requirements.
    9. To continually evaluate and improve the planning/assessment
    process itself, including the appropriateness of college
    goals/objectives; the effectiveness of goal attainment; the timing and
    appropriateness of the annual planning/assessment cycle; and the linkage
    between the planning/ assessment, decision-making and budgeting
    processes
    10. To prepare, publish and disseminate appropriate
    planning/assessment documents annually, including Strategic Plan,
    Continuous Improvement Plan and an Institutional Effectiveness Report.
    11. To facilitate college planning, decision-making and
    policy formation through collaboration with faculty, administrators,
    staff, students and other stake holders to collect, present, and analyze
    institutional data.
    12. To direct research studies and analytical activities in
    support of planning, policy development and decision-making efforts of
    the administration. Approve and prioritize studies on a variety of
    management issues and policies including enrollment projections,
    retention analyses, needs assessments, reports on resource linkage to
    budget and efficiency studies.
    13. To use a variety of statistical techniques and
    procedures used in education assessment activities and in implementing
    standards-based education in order to improve student learning and
    performance.
    14. To establish standards of reporting and coordinate
    campus-based efforts of institutional survey data to outside agencies.
    15. To research and recommend tools for assessing college
    operations in comparison to "best practice" peer institutions and other
    organizations.
    16. To serve as institutional representative to
    professional organizations.
    17. To assume such other duties as may be assigned by the
    president
