Sherman College Privacy
Statement
Overview
Your privacy is important to Sherman College.
Our policy is to protect the privacy and
confidentiality of individuals accessing our Web
site and/or receiving any digital direct
marketing materials. This Privacy Statement
describes what information we collect and how
that information is protected and used.
Information Gathered Automatically and Its
Use
When you access the Sherman College Web site, we
automatically collect certain information, such
as the type and identity of the Internet service
provider you are using, the time spent on the
Web site, and the country from which you access
the Web site. We also gather your IP address. An
IP address is a number assigned to your computer
for accessing the Internet. All computer
identification on the Internet is conducted with
IP addresses, which allow computers and servers
to recognize and communicate with each other. We
do not link IP addresses to anything personal.
This means that user sessions are tracked, but
the users remain anonymous. The IP address is
used to help diagnose problems with our server
and to administer our Web site by identifying
the parts of our Web site that are most heavily
used and the portion of our Web site audience
coming from within the Sherman College network.
We use the information gathered automatically,
as described above, for internal purposes, such
as to tailor Web site content to user needs and
generate aggregate statistical reports. At no
time do we disclose site usage by individual IP
addresses. Web server logs are retained on a
temporary basis and then deleted completely from
our systems.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, we reserve the
right to use IP addresses to identify any
visitors who threaten our service, site, campus,
students or employees.
Information Supplied by Users
On some pages within our Web site, you may be
asked to voluntarily provide personal
information before accessing specific pages or
as a requirement to receive certain information
by mail or e-mail. For example, persons
requesting admissions materials will be asked to
provide a name and mailing address and persons
interested in pursuing career opportunities at
Sherman College may be asked to provide contact
and resume information. This information may be
used by us to contact you directly in order to
respond to your requests; however, you will
always be given an opportunity to opt out of any
of our direct marketing activities. For example,
to unsubscribe from our email newsletter,
Sherman Shares, simply use the unsubscribe link
provided on the bottom of each newsletter page.
E-Commerce Transactions
Some of our Web site features may use
applications to collect data to facilitate an
e-commerce transaction. We do not use an outside
service to process credit card transactions. All
credit card information is encrypted and stored
on our server until downloaded and unencrypted
by a Sherman College employee. Only one employee
has access to unencrypt credit card data. That
employee sends the transaction, with credit card
information, to the office that handles the
particular type of purchase (such as the
Bookstore for gift items, Development for
donations, or Continuing Education for
registration of events). At that point, we
process the credit card by hand in our business
office, in the same manner we use for any other
credit card transaction received by any other
means.
Alumni Services
Sherman College may provide an alumni directory
and/or offer online alumni services from time to
time. Directory information may include the
names and contact information of all active
alumni. In addition, the directory may include
other personal information that you provide to
us online or offline (strictly on a voluntary
basis), such as information regarding your
career, education and family.
Alumni services may also include career and
networking services that enable you to post job
listings, resumes or to otherwise communicate
with other alumni. These services are entirely
voluntary, and Sherman College is not
responsible for use of your information by other
alumni.
Sharing Your Personal Information
Sherman College will not license, sell or
provide your personal information to any third
party except as described herein, or with your
consent. However, we may disclose specific
information when we determine that such
disclosure is necessary to comply with the law
or to protect the interests or safety of Sherman
College, our visitors or others.

Statement. Therefore, you should consult the

Sherman College treats your personal information

and unauthorized access. This Web site has
information security measures in place to
protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the
