The Intern Clinical Experience

The most valuable training you will receive while at Sherman College is the experience you will gain providing chiropractic care to patients in our on-campus Chiropractic Health Center. During your last five quarters as a chiropractic intern, you will be fully engaged in all aspects of patient care in order to develop clinical competency and prepare for licensing exams. Together, with licensed chiropractic faculty, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking and recording thorough patient histories
  • Conducting patient examinations
  • Ordering and analyzing digital x-rays
  • Educating patients about good health practices and how regular chiropractic care benefits overall health
  • Analyzing patient findings, developing diagnoses and creating appropriate care plans
  • Providing chiropractic adjustments
  • Participating in community outreach events
  • Improving your communication and practice-building skills

“I enjoyed and valued my clinic experience. The first years of study are about books. The clinical experience makes it all real. I learned so much and I found out that it’s really true that everything you learn you’re going to use.”

-- Robin Pace, D.C., 2007 Sherman graduate now practicing in Asheville, NC
