Chiropractic Unbarred, Part II (3 hours)

Overview of the Blair Upper Cervical Technique (3 hours)

Join Forest for his exploration of the Blair technique and hands-on demonstrations. His interactive presentation will address several Blair concepts, the importance of x-raying and the expectations of utilizing the upper cervical Blair technique.

Chiropractic Care for Children *SP (2 hours)
Tonine Gelardi, D.C.
Building on the Sherman Package, this course will assist you developing confidence in assessing and adjusting infants and children. Through case studies and demonstration, participants will explore solutions to the challenges of determining when a subluxation is present, how to position a child for both the check and adjustment, and how to establish correct depth, contact, and line of drive.

Advanced Muscle Palpation: Because Nature and Science Should Agree (4 hours)

Advanced Muscle Palpation (AMP) is an elegant form of spinal examination that determines the level and direction of the subluxation. While using simple static palpation to assess and interpret deep segmental activity, Spano will show you how to make an adjustment based on the most advanced system of spinal analysis.

McCoy will provide an overview of the science related to the concept of vertebral subluxation. Find out the challenges facing its scientific exploration as well as the science related to maladaptive responses to vertebral subluxation.

Digital Line Analysis Procedures – Moving X-ray Analysis into the 21st Century *SP (3 hours)

Fehl and Kuhta will focus on the benefits of digital x-ray analysis that enable greater confidence and ease through enhanced visualization of anatomic structures. Digital line analysis procedures for the cervical, thoracic and lumbar pelvic spine will be presented with emphasis on practical, in-office application.

Neurology of the Subluxation and Adjustment (4 hours)
Marc Pick, D.C.
Utilizing the latest in computerized technology and video dissections, Pick’s presentation will review basic human neurology and the neuronal theory. Join him as he takes you on a journey through the nervous system addressing a single case abstract of a vertebral subluxation and its probable contribution to the demise of the nervous system’s central integrative state. Completing the journey will be an investigation into the world of a chiropractic adjustment and the process by which it may ensure the patient’s survivability and neuronal rehabilitation.

Biologic Concepts of the Vertebral Subluxation (6 hours)

Demetrious provides a physiologic and biologic rationale related to the chiropractic vertebral subluxation. Attendees will receive an advanced perspective utilizing clinically relevant MRI/CT findings with emphasis placed upon therapeutic decision making. Demonstrative cases, images and care protocols provide instructive insight to common and complex patient presentations in this two-part presentation.

A call to action means bringing your mission back to your community and sustaining your efforts. This means confronting the challenges of the profession, both scientifically and philosophically. You must acknowledge and respond to the fact that the public is demanding what chiropractic offers. This session will empower the chiropractor and the entire office. Lyceum 2008 features a great opportunity to learn firsthand what the leaders of our profession’s educational institutions are thinking. Gandhi taught that we must be the change you want to see in the world. Our leaders will be challenged to speak about how they follow that inspiration in a Lyceum plenary discussion under the big top. Join us as a diverse panel of chiropractic college presidents respond to the question: “What changes would you like to see in the profession, and how do you plan to go about being that change?”

Other Programs

Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers
Sherman College is proud to continue its Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers (ACP), a one-
year course designed to enhance the understanding and depth of chiropractic philosophy. This program is designed to challenge the thinking process and the application of philosophy in the chiropractic profession for the purpose of developing committed communicators of chiropractic philosophy. Completion of this 10-module course awards you with the Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers distinction. Lyceum 2008 marks the beginning of this program’s third class. The courses offered below complete module one. Lyceum attendees are invited and encouraged to attend.

Modernizing Chiropractic’s Basic Metaphysical Syllogisms (3 hours)
David Koch, D.C.
Koch will review Stephenson’s 33 principles in light of his recent work on rearranging, categorizing and editing the principles for better logical flow, internal consistency and more accurate use of terminology. This work will serve to better integrate Stephenson’s principles into a single, three-part deductive syllogism, and it will highlight the meaningfulness of the entire chiropractic metaphysical model over the isolated interpretation of individual principles as they apply to specific situations.

Chiropractic, Energy Medicine, and the Future of Healing (4 hours)
Simon Senzon, M.A., D.C.
Explore the history of chiropractic’s earliest influences and chiropractic research of the early 20th century. In this two-part lecture, Senzon will lead an exploration of the concepts of energy medicine and modern research while linking quantitative and qualitative approaches to chiropractic outcomes.

Rigor in Chiropractic Philosophy (2 hours)
Brian McAulay, D.C., Ph.D.
McAulay will address the centrality of rigor in advancing the understanding of the philosophy of chiropractic. Join him as he presents core concepts concerning the role of rigor in the philosophy of chiropractic.

Evolution or Adaptation, the Changes in Straight Chiropractic (2 hours)
Joe Strauss, D.C.
Join Strauss as he addresses external and internal forces that have shaped chiropractic philosophy and its application in practice. He will lead a discussion of the potential forces that can influence the practice of chiropractic in the future.

*SP denotes that this program is part of the Sherman Package. The Sherman Package is a technologically advanced, philosophically sound, clinically useful approach to the location, analysis and correction of vertebral subluxation. It addresses the entire spine including the upper cervical spine and its unique structure and function.
