Media Coverage 2009
Developing and maintaining a strong presence in local, regional and chiropractic media is a primary goal of the Public Relations Office because such placements help spread the news about Sherman College's strong program and provide prospective students and potential referral sources and donors with solid examples of the progress and health of the college. The Fall 2009 College Fest, presented and hosted by the College Town consortium of Spartanburg's six higher-learning institutions, is happening this evening at Denny's Plaza in downtown Spartanburg and features three musical acts, food and drink and the chance for college students and other young adults from the community to mingle.

Researchers at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC, have demonstrated that the autonomic nervous system is affected by chiropractic adjustments, and that the area of the spine adjusted may influence whether the affect involves a parasympathetic or a sympathetic response.The study enrolled 40 patients between the ages of 25-55 years. All participants were asymptomatic and free of hypertension and a history of cardiovascular disease.

Area educators trying to keep college tuition in check
Sherman College of Chiropractic again had the most modest increase locally at 2.5 percent -- its lowest in eight years. In a blog he wrote for the college's Web site, Sherman President Jon Schwartzbauer said annual tuition increases have become an "unavoidable part of the college experience in the United States" because the cost of operating colleges and universities grows at a rate that sometimes doubles the national rate of inflation. He wrote that Sherman was able to keep its tuition increase down by functioning efficiently and utilizing numerous scholarships.
