Jaclyn Leeper, Student
Though she claims to have been born
with a tennis racket in her hand,
Kentucky native Jaclyn Leeper
realized during undergraduate study
that she wanted to use her hands for
a different purpose – chiropractic.
Growing up in a chiropractic family
(her grandfather, uncle and two
cousins are D.C.s), Jaclyn figured
there was room for one more. In what
she calls “the most spontaneous
decision I’ve ever made,” Jaclyn
abandoned her elementary education
major at Murray State University and
began prerequisite studies for
chiropractic. Ironically, she says,
it’s probably one of the best
decisions she’s ever made.

Chris Ethridge, Student
Growing up in a dental family, Chris
Ethridge always thought he would end
up being a doctor. But after
spending time in his father’s dental
practice, Chris realized he had “no
real love for putting (his) hands in
people’s mouths.” Following college,
Chris started his own contracting
business, but after his wife gave
him an information package from
Sherman, they decided to close the
business, uproot the family and move
to Spartanburg.

Danielle Zappile, Student
Unhappy with her job as a middle
school math teacher, Danielle
Zappile of Cherry Hill, NJ, knew
something better was waiting in the
wings. Her chiropractor had spoken
to her on several occasions, saying
she would make a great chiropractor,
and so she looked into the
profession. She was impressed with
Sherman’s academic rigor, strong
personal connections and diverse
student body.
