STUDENT LIFE
Sherman is home to a growing
population of approximately 300 students. The
student body represents 32 states and 15
countries. Forty-six percent are female; 28% are
married; 18% are minorities; 6% are
international students. Their age groups span
three generations - from 19 to 60, with some of
them being right out of college, and others
seeking to start a second, or even third career.
Sherman College sits on 80
acres of rolling hills in the foothills of the
Blue Ridge Mountains (visible from many of our
classrooms). This prime location provides the
comforts and options of city life as well as
easy access to abundant outdoor recreational
opportunities. Upon visiting, you'll soon
understand why thousands of people move to
Spartanburg every year to take advantage of the
area's beautiful weather, convenient location,
scenic landscape, friendly people, plentiful
economic opportunities and excellent quality of
life.
Whatever your background, you will find a
comfortable home at Sherman College. Our small
classes foster a close-knit and supportive
academic community, with plenty of opportunities
for new friendships and mentoring relationships
with faculty. We have created a community of
friends - among students, faculty and staff.
Our Student Affairs Office helps by planning
activities such as white-water rafting, hiking
excursions and all-school picnics to familiarize
students with the area and with each other.
Our Student Affairs staff also provide a broad
range of support services, such as helping you
locate housing or find a roommate. We don't have
on-campus housing, but we can direct you to
plenty of local, affordable housing choices.
Student Affairs personnel offer confidential
counseling if you need it, and they can help you
identify available associate opportunities as
your graduation nears.
The Office of Student Affairs
realizes that there are many obstacles/issues
that students must overcome on a daily basis;
therefore,
counseling information about topics ranging
from alcohol to wellness and writing skills are
provided in a friendly, convenient, and private
environment. The
counseling pamphlets can be viewed while on
campus in the computer lab or in the privacy of
your own home.
