Check your state's licensing requirements

Some states, such as North Carolina and Florida, require chiropractors to complete the bachelors degree BEFORE entering chiropractic school. Check the requirements for the state where you plan to practice before you begin a 3 + 1 program.

Three + One Programs

The 3 + 1 programs allow students to finish the last year of the bachelor's degree during the first year of the doctor of chiropractic program. Students take the first three years of the bachelor program at one of the colleges below, and then transfer to Sherman. The bachelor's degree will be awarded when the student successfully completes the first year at Sherman.

Dr. Bill DeckenAn articulation agreement is a list of the courses that are accepted for pre-requisites at Sherman.

Check with the college you wish to attend to learn if an agreement exists with Sherman College. Several of the colleges listed have specific pre-chiropractic programs which prepare you specifically for chiropractic work.

In general, courses may be taken at any accredited college, as long as they meet the pre-requisites.

Do I need a Bachelor's degree to be a Chiropractor?

Each state in the U.S. stipulates by state law the licensing requirements for doctors of chiropractic. For example, South Carolina does not require a chiropractor to have a bachelor's degree, but North Carolina does. Visit the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards website to learn to the requirements for the state where you plan to practice.
