Do I need a bachelor's degree before I start the doctor of chiropractic program?

In some states, such as North Carolina, chiropractors are required to have a bachelor's degree to be licensed. In other states, such as South Carolina, an undergraduate degree is not required. Be sure to check with the Federation of chiropractic licensing board (fclb.org) to learn the rules for the state where you wish to practice.

A 3 + 1 Program allows students to finish a bachelor's degree while they begin the DC program. Several colleges have made agreements with Sherman College to accept the first year of Sherman College as the senior year of the bachelor's degree.

Spartanburg Community College offers the Pre-Chiropractic Institute, which prepares a student to enter Sherman with all 90 hours of prerequisites and an associate in science degree. Successful completion of this program will guarantee acceptance at Sherman College. This is a very affordable option.
