Get Your Chiropractic Shopping Done Online at Sherman College Bookstore's New Web Site

March 12, 2002 - If you love to show your enthusiasm for chiropractic and Sherman College with merchandise from the college bookstore, but making the trip to Spartanburg, SC, is unrealistic or inconvenient -- you now have a new avenue for getting your shopping done. The Sherman College Bookstore is online at www.sherman.edu/bookstore.

"Many alumni and friends of the college live too far away to make regular trips to the Sherman College bookstore," says manager Amanda Price. "The new web site gives them a chance to visit us and shop from the comfort of their homes and offices."

To view the site, your computer should have Internet Explorer 5.0 or above or Netscape Navigator 5.0 or above. (If you have an older version of Internet Explorer, you may download a free upgrade from Microsoft).

To get into the site, you must enter a username and password. Then you can browse through shirts, hats, books, posters, spines, mugs, key chains and more. The site is divided into categories -- books, charts and posters, chiropractic office supplies, clothing, gifts and accessories, and models -- and once you choose a category, you'll see an array of items with photographs and prices.

The Sherman College Bookstore offers a wide variety of educational materials perfect for office use. "Alumni and other practitioners frequently call the bookstore looking for educational materials they can use in explaining chiropractic to their patients," Price says.

"It's very unwieldy to describe over the phone the posters and models we have available. On the web site, users can look at our merchandise and get a better idea of what they want before they buy."

If you wish to purchase an item, simply add it to your basket. You may check the contents of your basket at any time, and it's easy to add or remove items before your order is processed. When you're ready to "check out," a service charge (which covers shipping) and five percent sales tax are added.

Your credit card order will be submitted on the college's secure server, and you will be given an order confirmation number. The secure server creates an encrypted code that contains your personal information and credit card number, which is then sent to the credit card company.

Your merchandise will be shipped via UPS Ground, which will allow the bookstore to track packages sent. Overnight shipping is available for an additional cost.

An "Order History" database allows you to view past orders on your account.
