With more than 10,000 students
matriculating in Spartanburg County each year, it’s plain to see that
Spartanburg, SC, truly is a “college town.” That’s why leaders of all six local
colleges have been working together to offer joint social and academic programs
to enhance the quality of the college experience for students and faculty while
showcasing the importance of the institutions to the community. The next project
for this consortium of colleges:
College Fest 2003, a Saturday afternoon “welcome back” concert for
Spartanburg students.
College Fest will be held October 25 from 6-10 p.m. (gates open at 5:30) at
Barnet Park in Spartanburg. Featured bands include Dezeray’s Hammer, Seven and
Five & Dime. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the gate (bring your college
I.D.; faculty and staff are welcome).
Free pizza, BBQ sandwiches, carnival food and soft drinks will be served, and
free rock climbing, temporary tattoos and balloons will also be available. For
more information or to purchase your ticket, call Student Services at
864-578-8770, ext. 1224, or e-mail
sflowers@sherman.edu.
