  FEATURED STORY
Community Relations keeps chiropractic in the spotlight
---------------------------------------------------------

by Linda Price, Director of Community Relations

There’s always something exciting happening at Sherman College, whether on or off campus. In the past few weeks, our student interns have represented the college at spinal screenings and health talks across the Upstate region of South Carolina. They’ve been to restaurants, businesses, club meetings, malls, libraries and even the airport.

Student interns participate in 75-100 community events each year, including spinal screenings, health fairs, Adopt-A-Highway, Kids Day America, food and school supply drives for the needy, blood drives, nursing home programs, Lunch-N-Learn programs and more.

One of our goals in the Community Relations Office is to encourage the general public to get involved in health awareness and explore the benefits chiropractic care. By checking the Health Center section of our web site (../edu/healthcenter/index.html) or calling us directly, you can always find out where our interns will be providing spinal screenings during the week or month. The screenings are complimentary and we hope that visitors will bring a friend or loved one along.

Here are just a few upcoming events:
• The bloodmobile will be on campus Monday, October 20, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. All donors, both new and existing patients, will receive a complimentary visit to our health center.
• Our annual “Patient Appreciation Day” will be held Friday, October 31. Halloween costumes are encouraged. Treats will be provided, and all new and existing patients receive complimentary visits on this day. Come out and enjoy the fun!
• Our annual food drive will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 17-18. In exchange for 6 canned goods, both new and existing patients will receive a complimentary visit to the health center on these days.

If you would like to enhance your knowledge in the area of chiropractic care or introduce it to someone else, please join us for “Health Enhancement Nights,” which are held once a week in the health center. Dates and times are posted on our web site (../edu/healthcenter/health_enhancement.html) or you may call 864-578-8777 for details.

The Community Relations Department is always happy to schedule interns to speak to schools, churches and businesses. We’ll also provide hands-on screenings at health fairs or other events. Please feel free to contact us (864-578-8777 or healthcenter@sherman.edu) if we can be of service to your organization.
