California Governor Schwarzenegger Spotlights Service and Health at Symposium
by Leroy G. Moore, D.C., Director of Ambassador Relations

Traveling on behalf of the college’s Ambassador Program is always an exciting job filled with opportunities. But on my recent trip to the ICA Symposium on Natural Fitness March 5-6 in Columbus, OH, I had a special opportunity – a handshake and photo op with California Governor and chiropractic supporter Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I enjoyed representing Sherman and sharing information about the college with the participants. It was good to see some of our alumni and to have some graduates of other colleges ask for Sherman College materials for their office. I am realizing more and more that there is a great respect and appreciation within the chiropractic profession for Sherman College and its mission.

Schwarzenegger was the featured speaker at the symposium, and he addressed more than 400 participants. According to the ICA web site, Schwarzenegger told the crowd, “I am honored to be back with you and to celebrate this great weekend once again. We share a common mission, and that is health and fitness for everyone.”

The governor even compared the perks of his new job as governor with the benefits of being a chiropractor: “I can tell you that being governor is the best thing I could ever be doing because helping people, serving all of the people, and making a difference in peoples’ lives means more to me than walking down a red carpet at another movie premiere,” he said. “It is just like what you do as chiropractors; make a difference by helping people heal and feel better, making it possible to live fuller lives. This I know from my own experience with chiropractic and I am very grateful for what you have done for me and for so many millions of people around the world.”

Schwarzenegger stressed the importance of giving back to the community and reaching out to people who are experiencing hardships.

The program featured many other chiropractic speakers, including Drs. Tom Deters, Mitch Mally Pete Gratale, Ken Kinakin Gerry Mattia and Jeff Spencer.
