Faculty, Staff Welcome Dr. Boone to Campus
---------------------------------------------------------

William Ralph Boone, D.C.

William Ralph Boone, Ph.D., D.C., was named Sherman’s new Director of Research earlier this year – but the college was only recently able to welcome him to campus in person.

Boone, who most recently lived in New Zealand, has been serving Sherman from off-campus for the past several months. Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences John Hart, D.C., served as interim coordinator of research until Boone’s arrival on campus April 15.

A 1990 summa cum laude Sherman graduate and a noted researcher, Boone brings a wealth of expertise in the area of college administration and research. From 2000-2002, he served as director of research at the New Zealand School of Chiropractic in Auckland, and he also served as interim CEO of the school from 1998-2000. In that position, Boone was responsible for assisting and advising the school through its program design and accreditation process.

“We are truly excited about the impact Dr. Boone’s leadership will have on our research output,” says Executive Vice President and Provost Myron D. Brown, D.C. “His proven track record as both a researcher and a college administrator, in addition to his impressive accomplishments in the area of scholarly publications, bode very well for the future of Sherman College's research agenda.”

Prior to attaining his doctor of chiropractic degree, Boone served Sherman College as director of research and computer resources. He shared teaching responsibilities in the areas of clinical chemistry, histology, gross anatomy, embryology, research methodology, automated office procedures, public health, nutrition and biochemistry.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA; a master’s degree in biology from the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA; and a doctorate degree in biology from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.
