---------------------------------------------------------

Many hopeful golfers will try their hands at winning a large cash prize during the Carolina First $10,000 Putting Contest at Sherman’s Eighth Annual Hit ’Em Straight Golf Tournament. The tournament, presented by Ed-Invest, will be held Thursday, September 1, 2005, at River Falls Plantation in nearby Duncan, SC. The tournament will be a four-person, captain’s choice format with 11:00 a.m. shotgun start.

The Carolina First $10,000 Putting Contest takes place during Thursday’s tournament. The contest is free and open to the public (no current or former golf professionals may enter). Participants can take a free swing to qualify for the $10,000 grand prize. There is also an option to buy additional chances to qualify. Qualifying occurs from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; an elimination round starts at 5:00 and the final putt for $10,000 will happen at 5:15.

Proceeds from the tournament and putting contest will be used for scholarships, equipment upgrades, research and endowment support at Sherman College. Participants enjoy a fun day of golf and at the same time support quality straight chiropractic education. For more details about the event, visit our web site at www.sherman.edu/golf.
