Spartanburg
area residents waking up with local radio personality Bill Drake on August 23
heard all about Sherman College, the on-campus chiropractic health center, and
chiropractic as a career choice, as Sherman President Jon Schwartzbauer, D.C., and
Regent Dick Plummer, D.C., were guests on the daily talk show.
“Awake with Drake”
airs each morning from 5-9 a.m. on WSPA-AM in Spartanburg. Then, from 9-10 a.m.
weekdays, Drake interviews community leaders. The program featuring Sherman
College and chiropractic also re-aired on August 25.
For the last 30 years, Drake has reigned as Spartanburg’s most popular radio
personality as well as a most persuasive emissary for businesses in the
Spartanburg area. In addition, Drake is a chiropractic advocate and Sherman
supporter who has volunteered his time for many Sherman events and classroom
lectures on communication.
Drake’s involvement with Sherman College stretches back to the late 1970s when
he served as emcee at Lyceum. Impressed with the large audience at the event,
and by Plummer (who was Lyceum director at the time), Drake invited Plummer as a
regular guest on his morning radio show to talk about chiropractic. Drake
continues to invite guests from the chiropractic community on his radio show. He
also helps publicize Sherman College news and serves as emcee at various college
events. Drake became a chiropractic patient in 1987 and is an avid reader of
books on the philosophy of chiropractic.
