Accreditation Update
--------------------------------------------------------- |
|
| |
The Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges continued
Sherman’s accreditation at its December 2007 meeting, but placed the college on
warning for failure to comply with Core Requirement 2.12 (Quality Enhancement
Plan).
The college has worked diligently to meet SACS’ requirements for the Quality
Enhancement Plan (QEP) and will take the additional steps necessary to satisfy
the commission and remain on track for reaffirmation in the coming months. The
college remains accredited through this process.
On January 16, 2008, SACS provided information to assist the college in refining
the QEP to satisfy the Commission. This process will involve a broad-based
constituency including students, faculty and staff. In April or May, SACS will
send a special committee to review the revised QEP and also to examine the
college’s adherence to important academic, grievance and governance policies.
The SACS Commission will once again consider Sherman College’s reaffirmation at
its June 2008 meeting. The college looks forward to improving the QEP and
policies to improve both the institution as a whole and the doctor of
chiropractic program.
