Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic

Why Would an Architect Join the Sherman Board of Trustees?

Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic is led by a visionary group of professionals who are dedicated to carrying out the college’s mission, goals and objectives to educate chiropractors, conduct relevant research and serve humanity with high quality care – these people are the members of the Board of Trustees.

While it is easy to see why doctors of chiropractic would serve on the college’s Board of Trustees, it may not be so obvious why colleges often seek the expertise of individuals from non-chiropractic disciplines (such as bankers, lawyers and others) on their boards. Vice Chairman of Sherman’s Board of Trustees and Architect Peter Raymond Wells of Park Ridge, NJ, explains it well.

“Serving on the Sherman College Board allows me to share my business experience and offer my specific expertise when relevant issues arise,” he says. “But it’s also a great way to give back to a profession that has meant so much to my family.” Wells’ wife, Linda DiMauro Wells is a 1980 Sherman graduate and practices in Park Ridge.

Wells was able to offer the college his oversight on the plans for and construction of the Gordon and Helen Brown Student Plaza completed last year, as well as the renovation and beautification of the college’s faculty/staff parking lot. In addition, Wells also designed the college’s Honor Wall, a handsome stone and marble structure that artistically depicts infinity and serves as a symbol of the college’s future and commitment to excellence.

Wells says professionals from other disciplines would be welcome additions to the Board of Trustees. “Serving on Sherman’s Board of Trustees is a wonderful way to share your talents and knowledge in areas that can benefit the college and profession. It’s especially meaningful for those of us with family members or close friends in the profession as we are truly appreciative of the difference chiropractic has made in our lives.”
