Thanks for the Referrals!
The Enrollment Services Team knows just how valuable our Sherman College alumni and supporters are to our recruiting efforts! Over the years, alumni have been responsible for the chiropractic careers of hundreds of our students. In fact, in 2008, 42 percent of our new students were referred to Sherman College by you, our supporters, and we definitely appreciate it!
Lyceum Career Day is just around the corner and this year we would like to honor our supporters who bring prospective students with them to Lyceum! Please join us for lunch during our Career Day activities on Saturday, May 23. Contact the Admission Office at 800-849-8771, ext. 200 to let us know that you will be attending. We can’t wait to thank you in person!
Your Alumni Association Membership Matters
It’s time to renew! We encourage all Sherman and Penn Straight alumni to renew your membership or join the Sherman College Alumni Association so that your voice will be heard and your leadership valued. Your membership benefits include a discount on continuing educations seminars offered by the college (except Lyceum), a discount on Bookstore purchases and more.
Your membership matters because with every membership paid, the association can continue to support alumni programs such as Infinite Principles at Lyceum, student scholarships, and campus improvements at Sherman College.
If you did not receive your dues statement mailed in early March, you’ll want to update your address information here. If you misplaced or need a copy of the membership dues statement, you may download it here. (Adobe Reader required.)

by Melody Sabin, Coordinator of New Student Recruitment
Sherman College’s recruiting territory for the past fall and spring has been voluntarily narrowed substantially, but we do still get around! We are focusing our travel to get the most out of each visit, and it’s really paying off. The college and community events and activities we have been participating in are providing some great exposure for Sherman College. We are connecting not only with new prospective students, but also with many new DCs who have moved to the area and who would like to place Sherman materials in their offices. Read more...

Now Featuring Radiology Case Studies?
While Facebook has gained popularity as a social network that allows friends to keep up with each other, share photos and videos and even play Mafia games and tend virtual farms, Sherman College Radiology Department Chair Laura Greene-Orndorff, D.C., R.T.(R), has added yet another dimension for her Facebook friends: a weekly radiology case study.
For the past month or so, Orndorff has been posting a new x-ray each week for study and commentary. Students, alumni and even a few lay-friends have been joining in the fun, sharing ideas and sharpening their radiology skills. Read more...
Trees Add Vitality to Sherman Campus
"It's like a park! There are trees everywhere."
The prospective student had driven down for a tour of the Sherman College campus. He was amazed at the open grounds, the trees, and the plaza. The Sherman campus landscaping with its many varieties of trees adds a vitality to the grounds that helps support our recognition of the beauty and innate inntelligence of matter. Read more...
Reunions are Around the Corner
For Sherman and Penn Straight graduating classes from ’79, ’84, ’89, ’94, ’99 and ’04, reunions are just around the corner. A big reception will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, 5:30-7:30 p.m., in the Azalea Ballroom at the Renaissance Marriott in downtown Spartanburg on Church Street.
“The most frequently asked question about a reunion is who else is going to be there,” says Director of Alumni Relations Marggi Roldan. “So this year we are publishing a list of reception attendees on the Sherman web site. Now you can check the list and light a fire under friends who haven’t confirmed their reservation with the college.”
These reunions are being held in conjunction with Lyceum 2009: Share Your Pride.
Reunion reception facts:
• Spouses and guests welcome
• Cost: $20 per person in advance; $25 per person at the door
• Advance reservations appreciated
• See who else is coming
