Goodbye, Edufolio. Hello, Blackboard!

Sherman College is adopting the Blackboard Learning System during the summer 2009 quarter. Blackboard will replace Edufolio, the online learning management tool college has used for the past several years. We are excited about the expanded array of teaching tools that Blackboard offers:

  • Secure testing environments
  • An assignment tool that integrates with the grade book
  • Grade management
  • Online discussions and internal course messaging
  • Secure blogs and journals
  • Collaborative group writing
  • Integration with social media tools

The faculty is already hard at work learning about Blackboard and moving their content into the new system. Faculty and staff continue to work diligently to ensure a smooth transition as we say goodbye to Edufolio.

Follow the Adventures of Flat Larry

Flat Larry and BrickFlat Larry, a flattened version of the college’s mascot is traveling the world with Sherman and Penn Straight alumni. Follow his adventures on his travelogue. You never know where Flat Larry will visit or whom he might get to meet.

One of the first places he traveled was to another chiropractic college with Dr. Judy Campanale. Find out which one and why they went there.

Larry the Lion is the mascot for Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic. He represents the Sherman Pride. On May 22 he was flattened in a freak accident, but now he travels the world. Sherman alumni and friends are taking him to their offices, on vacation and lots of new places. Anyone can take Flat Larry on an adventure and submit a story and photos.

If some one sends Larry to you, keep him for 14 days or less and then send him to another chiropractor, Sherman supporter or a prospective student. If you can't wait, you can print me out yourself. Here's a file that fits 8.5 x 11 paper and here's a full sized tabloid of Larry that prints out 11 x 17. (These are large files and take several minutes to download.)

If you don’t want to play, send Larry home to:
