Gibbon and Coleman Attend SACS Summer InstituteAssociate Professor Cindy Gibbon, D.C., and Associate Dean of Clinical Program Alena Coleman, D.C., attended the Southern Association of Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges Summer Institute on Quality Enhancement June 19-22, 2009, in Houston, TX.
Dr. Gibbon and Dr. Coleman are members of our case management faculty learning community, which is a core group of faculty working on our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “Case Study Instruction (CSI).” The SACS Summer Institute offers programs that foster institutional improvement and focus on best practices in higher education. The conference program this year offered workshops on designing effective assessment, creating and implementing tools and techniques to collect data assessment and best practices for analyzing results to improve student learning. "Computers have changed how we view learning, and our new QEP takes advantage of the way students learn now," said Professor of Clinical Sciences, Cindy Gibbon, D.C. "With the use of technology, the students can spend more of their class time hands on, which makes them more responsible for their learning process. We are very happy to see how our CSI stands up to what other colleges are doing." Dr. Gibbon and Dr. Coleman will work with the case management faculty learning community to further refine our existing assessment and evaluation procedures with regard to our QEP, Case Study Instruction.
