Katelyn Niemiec, D.C., ’11, At the fall New Beginnings event held in New Jersey, recent graduate Dr. Katelyn Niemiec received an award in recognition of her leadership in starting the Philosophy Club on Sherman's campus.
She also won a chiropractic mission trip to the Dominican Republic and Haiti in January 2012 with Mission Life International and ChiroMissions.
The purpose of the trip is to educate and provide the less fortunate with natural solutions for health through chiropractic. ChiroMissions will be responsible for providing free chiropractic care for almost 20,000 people in an area where proactive healthcare does not exist. Mission Life International will be responsible for helping to rescue and provide food/shelter for orphans who have been left by parents who could no longer afford to provide in a society stricken with extreme poverty.
Enrollment Events for 2012Referrals from doctors of chiropractic are the most valuable source of students for Sherman. In the next year, five on-campus events will be held for prospective students to meet with current students and faculty, talk with admissions and financial aid staff, and see for themselves if Sherman is a good fit.
Please mark these dates in your calendar and tell prospective students about them. Share your pride in Sherman by helping us recruit students to these events. For more information contact Stacy Bradey, 800-849-8771, sbradey@sherman.edu
Evan Fiedler, D.C., ’95, Dr. Fiedler’s second book presents an innovative, 80-day running program to improve results at the finish line in the 10K, half marathon, and full marathon. Running Speed takes into account the runner’s current abilities during the process of discovering his or her true potential. Fiedler placed second and then first in his age group within two weeks’ time in a half marathon by following this plan.
In addition to practicing chiropractic, Fiedler has been teaching high school and college classes in biology, chemistry, earth science, anatomy & physiology, and ecology. He is a master teacher with the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars, as well as an instructor at Averett University and College of the Albemarle. See other alumni news here.
Four submissions by Sherman faculty have been accepted for presentations (posters or platform) at the upcoming Association of Chiropractic Colleges-Research Agenda Conference (ACC-RAC) 2012, representing clinical research, basic science research, and educational research.

We’ve made it easier for alumni and friends of the college who consult the Online Alumni Directory for patient referrals to access and search our alumni database for graduates of Sherman and Pennsylvania Colleges of Chiropractic.
“Using the directory no longer requires a login password,” says Director of Alumni Relations Marggi Roldan. “Alumni use the directory to find fellow alums across the globe. We hope the changes we have made will make it easier for everyone.”
Searching by city name is a feature that was also recently added by popular request of our users. The online directory is available at www.sherman.edu/alumnidirectory
