Students Talk the TIC

Sherman students are preparing to Talk the TIC on May 26, 2012, at 12:45 pm under the Big Top at Lyceum. The winner of the campus competition will represent Sherman College of Chiropractic at the national Talk the TIC event held at Life Chiropractic College-West this year.

Castellucci Speaks at Focus Philosophy Night 

Faculty Member Ron Castellucci, D.C., spoke at Focus Philosophy Night on Saturday, May 5 in Roswell, GA, along with Trustee Liam Schübel, D.C., and former Sherman administrator Brian McAulay, D.C., PhD.,  Focus Philosophy Nights are a series of seminars run by Sharon Gorman, D.C., for chiropractors to share their love for chiropractic. This was the first event held in Georgia.

Sherman Community Wellness Fair

Sherman College students will host a Wellness Fair event on Saturday, October 13, 2012,  from 10 am – 3 pm on the school grounds (rain or shine) with spine checks from 10:30 – 2:30.  Family-friendly activities and a full range of health screenings are planned – all part of the collective goal of spreading the word about chiropractic throughout the neighboring communities of Spartanburg, SC,  and beyond!

Peer Teaching and Learning Lab

As a function of the Academy of Chiropractic Excellence (ACE) internship program, a peer teaching lab has been set up in the Health Center.

ACE interns are responsible for staffing the lab and making sure that it runs smoothly. The ACE interns have demonstrated knowledge and skills required to serve as classroom teaching assistants, peer consultants, and remediation providers in the area of spinal analysis. They wear black clinic jackets and an ACE Intern badge.

The lab will be staffed by ACE Interns to provide one-on-one or small group help with the various components of spinal analysis and technique. Case doctors and instructors teaching in any of the relevant clinical science classes can refer students to the lab for extra help, and interns can sign up on their own.

“This is one way our students gain leadership and mentoring skills during the clinical experience," says Dr. Bob Irwin, ACE faculty advisor and VP for academic affairs. “We see it as a positive for both the ACE interns and the students they help.”

The current ACE interns are Elizabeth Balwah, Clayton Broome, Joshua Cebula, Allison Kyzer, Joshua Michael, Kunal Patel, Sandip Patel, Dana Socha, and Crystal Zagwyn.

Call for Abstracts: IRAPS 2012
June 8 Deadline

IRAPS Abstracts will be accepted through June 8, 2012.

Chiropractic is a profession based in vitalism and centered on vertebral subluxation. Questions as to the philosophical and scientific nature of the subluxation take center stage at Sherman College October 20-21, 2012, for the ninth annual International Research and Philosophy Symposium (IRAPS). Frequently Asked Questions about Being a Regent

Do I have to be nominated to join the Board of Regents?
No, membership on the Sherman Board of Regents is open to anyone who wants to support Sherman at the regent level of giving.

What’s in it for me?
When you join this group you become a partner with Sherman, supporting the greatest chiropractic college in the world. That alone is pretty gratifying!
As a regent, your registration for Sherman’s Lyceum (homecoming) is considered a benefit of your status. You are also entitled to continuing education program discounts and discounts on your purchases at the Sherman College Bookstore.

Do I have to be a Sherman graduate to join?
No. Anyone who wants to support Sherman can join.

Do I have to be a doctor of chiropractic to join?
No. We have several members who are strong supporters but not doctors of chiropractic.

Are my Regent donations tax deductible?
In accordance with IRS regulations, only the portion of your contributions exceeding the value of any goods or services you receive are tax deductible. If you take advantage of the Lyceum registration benefit, your tax deductible contribution total will be reduced by the fair market value of Lyceum registration.
