Singaporean Doctor of Chiropractic and national marathoner Ashley Liew, D.C., has been honored with the Spirit of Sherman College Award from his alma mater, Sherman College of Chiropractic, in Spartanburg, SC, USA. The Spirit of Sherman College Award is presented to Sherman graduates who exemplify the true spirit of Sherman College in their professional lives.

Dr. Liew graduated from Sherman College of Chiropractic in September 2016 and hit the ground running when he returned to his homeland of Singapore to join his mentor, Dr. Kelvin Ng, in practice. In the practice, he checks patients for nervous system interference and renders chiropractic adjustments for the fulfillment of optimum individual health potential. He is active in the community, giving health talks and sharing the chiropractic message. Within weeks of returning to Singapore, he became involved with The Chiropractic Association in Singapore, serving on its board of directors.

In addition to his work as a chiropractor, Dr. Liew is an avid runner. He was ranked the fastest Singaporean for the marathon distance in 2012 and 2015, as well as represented Singapore at the Southeast Asian Games Marathon in 2013 and 2015. Most recently he was awarded the Pierre de Coubertin World Fair Play Trophy in Budapest, Hungary, and a Singapore National Olympic Council Special Award for Sportsmanship in 2016.

Sherman College named its 2017 award recipients May 4-6 as part of Lyceum, an annual continuing education and homecoming event attended by hundreds of chiropractors and students throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held on the college’s campus in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events, and other programs.
