Community Connection Is Top Priority for Sherman College |
Community service is a crucial component of Sherman College's education program, as it allows students to apply their knowledge, gain experience, and contribute to their local community. Moreover, students can earn credit for the community service and volunteer work they do while at Sherman. This engagement is especially important for the Chiropractic Health Center as it helps build relationships with local citizens. How do we engage our community with events? Read about two community events this Spring!
EGGSTRAVAGANZA Egg Hunt
On Saturday, March 16, Sherman's 2nd Annual EGGSTRAVAGANZA Egg Hunt provided a family-friendly event for children of all ages. Dr. Tara Madden, Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences and Health Center Case Doctor (pictured in the center of the photo above with other volunteers), spearheaded the Chiropractic Center's efforts to host a fun and engaging event that drew families to Sherman. The Easter Bunny and Sherman's mascot Larry the Lion were on hand for photos. Heavy rain the previous day pushed us to move the event indoors to the Gelardi Student Center, which worked out nicely with all the open space (and dry feet!).

Hosting events like EGGSTRAVAGANZA helps us connect with local residents and raise awareness about chiropractic care, as well as the role that Sherman College plays in our community. This is a great way to introduce families to Sherman and build long-term relationships that can support their chiropractic needs for years to come. Also, volunteering for these events offer Sherman students the opportunity to learn how these connections can help their future practice, to earn required community service hours and to share the many benefits of chiropractic care.
Dr. Brian Dooley, Dean of Clinics (pictured in group photo, front, far right) said it best, "At the end of the day, we made children smile, and that's what it's really all about." |

| Kid's Day America™ (Save the Date!)
On May 18 Sherman College will host Spartanburg's first annual Kids Day America, a branded event available internationally. The founders of KDA, Drs. Stuart and Theresa Warner, explain "The Kid's Day America/ International movement spawned simply out of our sheer desire to serve more children and reveal the incredible benefits of chiropractic care to our community."
Sherman's KDA event efforts are led by Dr. Sarah Hock, Chair of Pediatrics and Perinatal Care at Sherman. "We are excited to bring this event to Spartanburg, hosting the event at our beautiful campus." She adds, "Our goal is to bring more local awareness to our Chiropractic Center and how entire families benefit from chiropractic care."
To learn about hosting KDA in your own community to boost your practice's connections, visit the Kids Day International website. |

New Regent Welcomed to Sherman by Dr. Bourla |
|
|
Please join me in welcoming our newest Sherman Regent, Dr. Brian Moriarity. I had the pleasure of spending time with Dr. Moriarity and attending the Florida Chiropractic Society (FCS) meeting in Fort Lauderdale where I enjoyed terrific content provided by dedicated chiropractors who understand the purpose of chiropractic and its importance to humankind. I was privileged to address the Board of Directors of the FCS and to learn more about their organization. This is a group of hard-working chiropractors who take “Guarding the Sacred Trust” quite seriously and they tirelessly work in Florida to maintain the purity of chiropractic as we chiropractors have been admonished to do. If you are a DC who lives in Florida, or you are an out-of-state DC who wants to ensure chiropractic remains chiropractic, I urge you to join the FCS at www.floridachiropractic.org
