Sherman Showcase May '24 Was a Success!

A Note from Sherman College Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services Kendra Strange

"On behalf of the Showcase Sherman Weekend (SSW) team, I would like to update you on this past weekend’s exclusive event. We hosted 35 prospective students plus their guests for two full days of activities. Combining the 18 new applications with those we already had entering the weekend, 77% left as either an applicant or an accepted student. We tied with the percentage from the January SSW!

There was an extra special visit by Drs. Thom and Betty Gelardi on Saturday. They were able to come and surprise a Showcase guest who was adjusted by Dr. Thom as a baby (see photo, top right). It was a truly amazing chiropractic reconnection story.

SSW is the most impactful recruiting event for our institution and requires teamwork from the entire Sherman campus. We could not execute such a program without many hands from many people across campus. I would like to thank all
who graciously gave your time and energy last week
to help showcase the best of Sherman College!"

Student Spotlight: Frances Hawkins

Hometown: Gulfport, Mississippi

Undergrad: University of Southern Mississippi, Business Administration

Clubs: Christian Chiropractic Club, DE Club

Frances Hawkins was introduced to chiropractic by her chiropractor, Anthony Lopez, DC. After attending the Sherman Showcase Weekend in 2022, she accelerated her undergraduate course load, and graduated a year early from the University of Southern Mississippi in December 2023 with a degree in business administration.

Frances says her career aspirations are deeply rooted in her faith in Christ and love for chiropractic. Her goal is to be the best person and chiropractor she can from the ADIO perspective: "above-down and inside-out."

Veterans at Sherman Honored at Luncheon

On Wednesday, May 15, Sherman College hosted its first Veteran's Luncheon, organized by Chiropractic Student Government Secretary Arianne Colabella (pictured on the left). The luncheon was held to honor and express gratitude to the faculty, staff, and students who have bravely served our nation. Their commitment and selflessness serve as a source of inspiration for us all. The veterans who attended the luncheon are shown in the photo below.
