Sherman College Receives Hearts and Hands Award

Sherman College of Chiropractic received the Hearts and Hands Award from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) at their annual Awards Day event on May 20. The award recognizes those who have benefited the SCSDB through contributions or improvements to the Spartanburg campus facilities or programs. Sherman was recognized for donations from students, faculty, and staff to SCSDB's back-to-school drive each August and the Angel Tree program each December. Accepting the award on behalf of Sherman was Dean of Clinics Brian Dooley, D.C., A.C.P., D.Ph.CS and Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences and Chiropractic Center Case Doctor Tara Madden, D.C., C.A.C.C.P.

Kids Day America Provided Family Engagement for Community

Sherman College hosted Spartanburg's first-ever Kids Day America™ (KDA) on Saturday, May 18. The event welcomed 250 community residents to the college's Chiropractic Center for fun, learning, and community connection. KDA is part of Kids Day International, founded by Drs. Theresa and Stuart Warner, chiropractors who are passionate about bringing chiropractic care to communities around the world. The child-friendly event aimed to introduce families in our community to the benefits of chiropractic care and to foster life-balance, safety, and environmental awareness. Approximately 25 students, faculty and staff volunteered to help at KDA.

Leading efforts for this event was Sherman College's Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences, Health Center Case Doctor, Chair of Pediatrics and Perinatal Care Sarah Hock, D.C., C.A.C.C.P. She says, "We really wanted to host something special so we could reach as many families in our area as possible. We are so grateful to the many donors, vendors, and Sherman volunteers who made the day successful." Dr. Bourla Delivers Commencement Speech at Webster University

On Saturday, June 1, the President of Sherman College, Dr. Jack Bourla, had the honor of delivering a speech at the commencement ceremony for the 2024 graduating students from Webster University. The ceremony was held at the Koger Center for the Arts in Columbia, South Carolina.

During his address, Dr. Bourla shared an inspiring personal story of late-career transition, becoming a chiropractor, and imparted motivational words to the graduates. He encouraged the Webster graduates to uphold the values instilled by their alma mater, continue their impactful work, and contribute towards building a sustainable future and empowering the communities they will serve.

Community, Chiropractic, and Competition for the Win!

Chiropractic care meets competitive spirit! Sherman College softball teams, Tappin' Axis and The GameCoccyx, battled it out in a thrilling Sherman vs. Sherman showdown game on May 21 as part of the community adult softball program with the Spartanburg County Parks Department. A mix of Sherman students and employees made up both teams. We're proud of our players for showcasing skill and sportsmanship and having a whole lot of fun - Go, GameCoccyx!
