Dr. Jack Bourla Reflections:
Georgia Council of Chiropractic Summer CE Conference |
"I attended and spoke at the Georgia Council of Chiropractic (GCC) meeting this past weekend, June 21-23. The GCC is a state association that has similar values that we have at Sherman College, and together, we can make a greater impact on the profession.
We enjoyed a variety of speakers, all of whom presented interesting, inspiring, and relevant content. As always, the meeting was extremely well-organized and supported by vendors who share vertebral subluxation-centered chiropractic. It is vital that DCs (and students) join those state associations that benefit chiropractic, even if we don’t live in those states…GCC is such an association to support." Boy Scouts of America's Flags for Heroes Event: Sherman Heroes Honored |
Sherman College of Chiropractic was well represented by alumni, regents and college founder Dr. Thom Gelardi at the second annual Flags for Heroes event hosted by the Palmetto Council of the Boy Scouts of America on June 12th. Held at Spartanburg’s Duncan Park and Veterans Point Memorial Park, the event recognized and celebrated individuals who have made a difference in our community and our country with a display of American flags.
Local Boy Scouts transformed Veterans Point Memorial Park into a field of red, white and blue by flying 200 3’x5’ American flags, each with a personalized dog tag honoring a sponsored hero, that included veterans, active duty military, first responders, teachers, healthcare workers, and others. Recognized heroes were sponsored by local individuals and organizations, with funds raised establishing scholarships for kids to join scouts. Scholarships will help to defray membership costs and allow the Palmetto Council to expand and recruit scouts from new communities. Flags were flown through June 15 and were then framed and given to sponsoring families or stored for use at the 2025 event.
Sherman attendees, each with a special connection to scouting, included Dr. Scott Baker '12, who is a Life Scout; Dr. Beth Ehlich '90, Regent, whose son is pursuing his Eagle Scout; Leah Kent, President's Circle Regent, whose son is pursuing his Life Scout; Dr. Russell Goff '19, Regent, was a Cub Scout Webelo; and Dr. Thom Gelardi, Silver Beaver Award recipient. As an event sponsor, Sherman College recognized the following students, alumni, and employees. |
