Sherman College recently welcomed 46 bright and curious undergraduate students from MedEx Academy, a respected summer pre-health internship program designed to prepare students for careers across the healthcare spectrum.

The visit began with a warm welcome from Sherman College President, Dr. Jack Bourla, who shared insights on the vital role of principled chiropractic care in today’s healthcare landscape. Students then rotated through immersive, hands-on sessions led by Dr. Rossi, Dr. DeVolld, and Dr. Popov.

From practicing palpation to learning the fundamentals of toggle recoil technique, and even exploring the Anatomy Lab, participants experienced the philosophy, science, and art that form the foundation of chiropractic—and the heart of Sherman College’s mission.

The visit served as a powerful introduction to chiropractic for aspiring healthcare professionals and underscored Sherman’s commitment to education, mentorship, and service.

This week and last, Sherman College case doctors and student interns visited Cherokee Charter Academy to share the gift of chiropractic and the power of health education with campers attending the school’s Summer Reading Camp.

This impactful camp is designed to support students reading significantly below grade level by providing them with high-quality, intensive instructional services. Our Sherman team had the unique opportunity to contribute by introducing wellness-centered conversations—showing how spinal health connects to whole-body well-being.

Interns engaged with campers through fun, age-appropriate activities that encouraged healthy posture, positive habits, and curiosity about the human body. With guidance from our case doctors, students also learned how the nervous system and spine work together to help us move, think, and grow strong—just like our reading muscles!

Originally from Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, where he studied Business Development, Gabriel brings an unwavering sense of professionalism and service to everything he does. Whether welcoming prospective students or supporting community outreach, he leads with heart, purpose, and an inspiring passion for chiropractic.

Gabriel’s “why” is deeply rooted in connection:

"To provide coherence in the human’s panel console—the nervous system—that will take individuals on a journey to feel more, be more, and live more."

Beyond campus life, Gabriel is an adventurer at heart. He finds joy in triathlons, surfing, camping, nurturing plants, and immersing himself in nature. It’s no surprise his favorite part about the Upstate is the easy access to beautiful natural habitats, which played a big role in his decision to make South Carolina home.

Thank you, Gabriel, for being a true role model and for helping us bring the gift of chiropractic to the world.

Next week, Sherman College of Chiropractic is headed to Puerto Rico to host two summer recruitment events designed to connect with future chiropractic students. These in-person sessions are an excellent opportunity for prospective students to meet members of the admissions team, ask questions, and explore the rewarding path of a chiropractic career.

The first event takes place on Wednesday, June 18, at the Aloft Hotel in Ponce, followed by a second session on Friday, June 20, at Campo Bravo Restaurant at Rio Bayamon Golf Club. Both events will run from 6:00–9:00 p.m. and include light refreshments.

These outreach events reflect Sherman’s deep commitment to building relationships in diverse communities and continuing its strong tradition of supporting Puerto Rican students. With vibrant alumni and student representation from the island, Sherman is proud to foster chiropractic education across Puerto Rico.
