Elevating Excellence: Sherman College Accredited by IACE |
|
|
Dear Sherman College Community,
It is my great pleasure to announce Sherman College of Chiropractic received accreditation from the International Agency for Chiropractic Evaluation (IACE) on July 23, 2025. The IACE was founded by experts in chiropractic education, regulation and testing on January 4, 2001, to advance vertebral subluxation-centered chiropractic. The IACE was chartered in the United States of America in the State of Iowa on March 28, 2001 as a non-profit corporation whose purpose was to be a chiropractic education and evaluation resource. The founding members were Ralph Boone, DC, PhD; Myron Brown, DC; E.L.R. Crowder, DC; Dan Kuhn, DC; Irene Gold, MA, DC; Joseph Strauss, DC; and Russell Grazier, DC.
Under the guidance of Dr. Susan Donoff, Sherman College’s Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation, many of us were called upon to contribute to a required Self-Study report that addressed all requirements to be accredited by the IACE. We received a unanimous vote from the IACE for acceptance as the first and only chiropractic college in the United States that is accredited by the IACE.
In a letter to Sherman College, Dr. Myron Brown, Executive Director of the IACE, stated:
“Dear Dr. Bourla, It is my great pleasure to send this letter of congratulations officially stating that the IACE Commission on Accreditation met on July 23, 2025, and found that Sherman College of Chiropractic is in compliance with the IACE Standards. Therefore, the Commission granted Accreditation to the college for a period of five years. The Commission on Accreditation and the Site Evaluation Team, commend the Students, Faculty, Administration, and Board of Trustees for their exceptional handling of all aspects of the accreditation process.”
Having this additional accreditation, in conjunction with our existing accreditation by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) and The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), separates Sherman from other chiropractic institutions in our dedication to teaching our curriculum in the Vertebral Subluxation-centered model, as admonished to do so by DD and BJ Palmer.
We are excited by this accreditation and will use this latest recognition to further inspire Sherman to be the leading chiropractic college that teaches the vertebral subluxation-centered curriculum. Congratulations Sherman College and huge thanks to those who helped to make this possible. Onward!!! |

Sherman Faculty Awarded Schwager Memorial Grant for Postpartum Breastfeeding Study |
|
|
Sherman College proudly congratulates faculty members Dr. Sarah Hock and Dr. Shannon Joy, who have been awarded the Dr. Scott Schwager Memorial Grant by the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation (FVS) to support their groundbreaking pilot study:
“Impact of Chiropractic Care on Breastfeeding Success in the First 6 Weeks Postpartum.”
This $2,000 grant supports research that advances vertebral subluxation-centered care and honors the legacy of Dr. Scott Schwager—a passionate advocate for principled chiropractic and public service. While Dr. Schwager was not a Sherman graduate, his family and friends chose to support Sherman because of his deep belief in the college’s mission.
Drs. Hock and Joy’s study explores how chiropractic care may influence breastfeeding success rates during the crucial early postpartum period. Their work not only aligns with Sherman’s commitment to research and clinical excellence, but also contributes to broader conversations in maternal-infant health.
“Drs. Hock and Joy exemplify the passion for clinical excellence and scholarly rigor that this grant was designed to honor,” said Dr. Anquonette Stiles, Executive Director of FVS. “This study has the potential to significantly impact how chiropractic care is integrated into postpartum wellness strategies.” - Dr. Anquonette Stiles, Executive Director of the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation We extend our sincere congratulations to Drs. Hock and Joy and look forward to the important insights their research will bring to the profession. Learn more about the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation at vertebralsubluxation.org |
