Sherman College of Chiropractic hosted a President’s Assembly on August 21, welcoming attendees both in person and virtually for an inspiring gathering of leadership and community.
The Assembly featured two distinguished leaders in the chiropractic profession: Dr. Edwin Cordero and Dr. Grant Dennis. Their insights on leadership, the missions of the organizations they serve, and how they live out these principles daily provided valuable takeaways for everyone in attendance.
Adding to the occasion’s significance, Drs. Thom and Betty Gelardi—founders of Sherman College—were also in attendance. Their presence was felt deeply throughout the event, reminding the community of Sherman’s rich history and the enduring vision that continues to guide the college today. President Dr. Jack Bourla expressed his gratitude to all who participated:

Sherman at Bat: Rain Delays, Big Plays, and Sherman Spirit |
|
|
On August 20, Sherman College of Chiropractic brought the spirit of community to the ballpark, hosting six prospective students for a memorable evening at a Spartanburgers baseball game. Joined by faculty, staff, and the enrollment team, guests enjoyed the comfort of a private suite filled with conversation, laughter, and plenty of food as future Shermies began connecting with the Sherman family.
Although a sudden downpour led to a two-and-a-half-hour rain delay, the weather did little to dampen the excitement. In fact, the extended pause offered even more time for fellowship and meaningful discussions about each student’s chiropractic journey.
Adding to the evening’s significance was the presence of Dr. Edwin Cordero, Sherman’s fifth president, who attended as the personal guest of Dr. Jack Bourla, Sherman’s current and sixth president. Their shared presence highlighted Sherman’s legacy of leadership and its enduring commitment to cultivating future chiropractors. While the Spartanburgers narrowly fell in the final inning just before midnight, the true victory belonged to the prospective students who experienced firsthand the camaraderie, warmth, and spirit that make Sherman College so unique. For many, the evening marked the beginning of their journey into the Sherman community, offering a glimpse of the lifelong friendships and opportunities that lie ahead. |

Sherman Ambassador Spotlight: Naomi Ocen-Odoge |
|
|
At Sherman College of Chiropractic, our student ambassadors represent the very best of who we are—leaders with integrity, compassion, and a deep commitment to the principles of chiropractic. These students guide prospective students, support campus initiatives, and embody the college’s mission every day.
This month, we proudly recognize Naomi Ocen-Odoge, a standout student ambassador whose passion and service are making a lasting impact on the Sherman community. Leading with Purpose
Naomi approaches her ambassador role with professionalism, heart, and a strong sense of mission. Whether welcoming prospective students at Showcase Sherman Weekend, answering questions about the chiropractic journey, or offering a friendly face on campus, Naomi sets a great example. She consistently demonstrates what it means to serve others through chiropractic.
“My favorite thing about Sherman is the people you come in contact with through your journey,” Naomi shares. “It’s an honor to help others see how this profession can change lives.” Why Chiropractic?
Naomi’s path to chiropractic reflects her belief that true health extends beyond temporary relief. “Chiropractic is the most direct way to impact people’s lives via their nervous system. I want people to know what feeling good in their mind, body, and spirit is as a lifestyle—not just intermittent moments.” Her enthusiasm for the profession is contagious and inspires those around her to embrace the life-changing potential of chiropractic care.
Education & Interests
Naomi earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine, where she double majored in Political Science and Sociology. Outside the classroom and clinic, she enjoys skateboarding, hiking, reading, and being active in the community. A Bright Future Ahead We are incredibly grateful for Naomi’s leadership and service as a student ambassador. Her dedication to Sherman College and her ability to connect meaningfully with others make her a valuable part of our community and a shining example of chiropractic’s future.
Thank you, Naomi—we are proud to celebrate you! |
