Strategic Partnerships in Action:
Sherman College and OneSpartanburg, Inc.

Sherman College of Chiropractic continues to expand its community and economic engagement efforts through strategic partnerships across the Upstate. Most recently, Vice President for Advancement Bruce Rosengrant and Director of Continuing Education Rozelle Foster met with Patricia Boyd and Katherine O’Neill of OneSpartanburg, Inc. to discuss opportunities to advance Sherman College’s mission while supporting local economic development and tourism.

These conversations reflect Sherman’s ongoing commitment not only to shaping the future of chiropractic but also to contributing meaningfully to the growth and vitality of the Spartanburg region.

Bruce expressed gratitude for the collaboration and valuable insights shared during the meeting, stating, “We’re proud to be part of a community that values collaboration, leadership, and innovation. These partnerships are helping us grow our impact well beyond the walls of our campus.”

As Sherman College continues to evolve, partnerships like these play a critical role in creating long-term value for students, alumni, and the local community.

Ringing in the Next Chapter:
August Ringing Out Ceremonies

At Sherman College of Chiropractic, the bell-ringing tradition is more than a ceremonial gesture—it’s a meaningful rite of passage that marks a significant transition in a chiropractic intern’s journey. It honors the dedication, discipline, and personal growth demonstrated throughout their clinical experience and celebrates their move from supervised care toward professional practice.

This long-standing tradition has evolved over the years. Sometimes, it spotlights the achievement of a single intern. Other times, like this past month, it brings a group of future chiropractors together in a collective celebration. No matter the format, the energy remains the same—joyful, proud, and full of Sherman spirit.

In August 2025, we proudly celebrated four outstanding students who rang the bell:

Joshua Martinez
Megan Mehaffey
Angela Thomson
Kate Hill

As faculty, staff, and lower-quarter students gathered to cheer them on, the moment became more than just a milestone—it became a testament to the strong, supportive community that defines Sherman College.

Congratulations to our August bell-ringers! We are proud of your hard work, inspired by your growth, and excited to see where your chiropractic journey takes you next.

Join the Sherman Team for
the Walk to End Alzheimer’s!

Sherman College is proud to once again participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s—an inspiring event that unites the community in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. This year’s walk will take place on Friday, October 25, at 9:45 a.m. at Fifth Third Park (Spartanburgers Stadium).

We invite students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of Sherman to stand together in support of those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia. Whether you walk in memory of a loved one, in support of a patient, or simply to raise awareness, your participation makes a meaningful difference.

Last year, the Sherman team showed up strong—and we’re ready to do it again! With a sea of purple and plenty of Sherman spirit, this event is a great way to support a critical cause while connecting with others in our community.

Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping. Neither are we.

Scan the QR code on the flyer to join the Sherman College Team or visit alz.org and search for the Sherman College group under the Spartanburg walk location.

Let’s walk together. Let’s walk with purpose. Let’s walk for a cure.

Moments of Great Opportunity

Sherman College President Dr. Jack Bourla and Vice President for Advancement Bruce Rosengrant recently had the opportunity to share a meal and meaningful conversation with the college’s founders, Drs. Thom and Betty Gelardi.

While such moments may be rare in other institutions, at Sherman College, the ability to engage directly with our founders remains a cherished part of our culture, a tradition that continues to shape our collective understanding of principled chiropractic.

This time of reflection and fellowship offered more than just conversation. It provided insight into the founding vision of Sherman College—rooted in service, purpose, and chiropractic clarity. Through stories rich in history and wisdom, Drs. Gelardi continue to inspire the work we do every day.

We are grateful for these ongoing opportunities to stay connected to our roots, and we remain committed to carrying forward the mission laid by those who built the foundation we proudly stand on today.
