Teamwork in Action: Sherman Supports SMC Student-Athletes |
When it comes to performance, recovery, and injury prevention, teamwork makes the dream work—and Sherman College of Chiropractic is proud to be part of a winning collaboration with Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC).
Each week, interns from the Sherman College Chiropractic Health Center, under the guidance of Dr. Michael L. Tomasello, Case Doctor for Sports Outreach, provide chiropractic care to SMC’s student-athletes. This hands-on partnership ensures athletes receive regular care to support optimal performance, faster recovery, and reduced risk of injury.
The program is made possible through strong coordination between Dr. Tomasello and SMC Athletic Director Megan Aiello, both of whom work tirelessly to help Pioneer athletes stay strong and game-ready.
Recently, Sherman College President Dr. Jack Bourla and SMC President Scott Cochran reaffirmed their shared commitment to this initiative, celebrating the ongoing partnership that supports the health and success of student-athletes across both institutions.
Sherman is proud to continue leading through service, education, and collaboration—on and off the field. |

Dr. Jack Bourla Attends “Power Up Through Innovation” at BMW Zentrum |
On September 5, Sherman College President Dr. Jack Bourla and Executive Vice President Karen Canup joined Spartanburg’s entrepreneurial leaders at OneSpartanburg’s “Power Up Through Innovation” event, hosted at the BMW Zentrum. This dynamic morning event brought together small business owners, innovators, and thought leaders to explore how local entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping business and community growth across the Upstate.
Designed to energize, equip, and connect Spartanburg’s business community, the program featured real-world stories, strategic insights, and emerging tools to help small businesses and organizations stay ahead of the curve.
Dr. Bourla’s presence highlighted Sherman College’s commitment to engaging with Spartanburg’s innovation ecosystem, exploring new ideas, and contributing to the region's vitality, not just through education, but also through economic development, strategic partnerships, and community leadership.
Events like Power Up Through Innovation closely align with Sherman’s mission to be forward-thinking and community-connected, ensuring that our students, interns, and graduates are prepared to lead in a rapidly evolving professional landscape. |

Sherman Hits the Road: Recruiting at USC’s Health Professions Fair |
Pictured above with Cocky: Evelyn Schrader and Skyler Frye. |
Sherman College was proudly represented at the University of South Carolina’s Health Professions Fair, where Enrollment Specialists Evelyn Schrader and Skyler Frye connected with future healthcare leaders from across the region.
The event was a valuable opportunity to introduce students to the chiropractic profession and to share what it means to be a DC2B (Doctor of Chiropractic to Be). Evelyn and Skyler offered insight into the Sherman experience—from our mission-driven curriculum to the supportive community that defines our campus. |
In true Sherman spirit, the team also had some fun along the way—snapping a photo with USC’s beloved mascot, Cocky, and spreading energy and enthusiasm throughout the day. Recruitment outreach events like this play a key role in helping prospective students discover their path in chiropractic. We’re proud to continue building connections, one handshake (and one mascot selfie) at a time. |
