Chiropractic Alumni Gift Covers Application Fee for Winter 2022 Students In celebration of his 35th year in practice, Dr. Samuel Sbarra created a scholarship to cover the application fees of up to 35 students for the incoming winter class of 2022. Ten students qualified and received the Dr. Sam Sbarra Application Fee Scholarship, which offset fees associated with the application process. Dr. Sbarra graduated from Sherman College in 1986 and is a longtime member of Sherman College’s Alumni Association and Regent Program. "We are so thankful for our donors who continue to find creative ways to support students and chiropractic education at Sherman College,” said Development Coordinator Dr. Russell Goff, a 2019 graduate himself. “It is an honor to work alongside our donors in support of Sherman College. We are always happy to see if we can make their dream a reality.” If you would like to create an opportunity on campus for our students, email Dr. Goff or call 800-849-8771, ext. 267. Supporting Students: Achieving “intern” status is a major milestone in the educational process at Sherman College. While this time is an exciting transition, the extra expense can present a challenge for students. To help interns get a great start to this experience, Sherman College recently established the Sponsor an Intern program. This program provides students with all of their required clinical supplies (clinic jacket, name tag, and business cards) and supports their clinical experience by helping offset the costs of clinic operations.
The program is off to a great start, with donors sponsoring every student in the first eligible class. Development Coordinator, Dr. Russell Goff, shared this happy news with the newest incoming class of pre-clinic interns just before finals. “When we announced that every intern had been personally sponsored by a donor, the room was electric with excitement,” he shared. “There was a weight taken off their shoulders, and it was just the pick-me-up they needed going into finals week.”
If you’d like to help start interns off with less stress as they begin the life-changing experience of caring for patients in the clinic, visit this page (scroll about halfway down) to choose an intern to sponsor. Adjusting the World for a Better Future starts right here in our Sherman College Chiropractic Health Center!
Student Ambassador Spotlight: Education: B.S. in chemistry from Clemson University and M.S. in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University.
Favorite thing about the Upstate: This area is close to just about anything; the mountains, beaches, and bigger cities are all within a few hours driving distance. Also, seeing all four seasons is wonderful. Favorite thing about Sherman: I like the small class sizes and family feeling. It makes being in class easier because classmates and professors actually know you, which makes your success easier as well.
Activities/Hobbies: Weightlifting, hiking, anything athletic.
About Our Ambassadors: The Student Ambassadors are a select group of students committed to representing the vision and mission of Sherman College. Read more about the Student Ambassador Program.
