Indianapolis, IN, chiropractor Sarita Sharp, D.C., was recently named Rising Star by Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC. The Rising Star Award is given to recent Sherman College graduates who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and service in the community.

Dr. Sharp is a 2017 Sherman College of Chiropractic graduate. During her time at Sherman College, she participated in numerous recruitment and outreach activities to help enroll students on their chiropractic journey. Chiropractic was not her initial career goal. After learning the specifics of the art of chiropractic and discovering her passion for uplifting her community, Dr. Sharp found that her athletic interests and willingness to help others truly resonated with the chiropractic profession.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be this year’s recipient of the Rising Star Award,” Sharp said. “I made the commitment to help others behind me along in their journey, and that comes by leading by example. I just ask that we all contribute to helping the chiropractic profession forward in some way.”

Since graduation, Dr. Sharp has been heavily involved with providing chiropractic care to the sports community. While practicing as an associate, she had the opportunity to work for several years with both local and international, professional and amateur Strongmen and Strongwomen. This experience has tied her directly to the annual Arnold Sports Festival for several consecutive years. She also worked to craft her skills, studying the injuries of her athletes. Now Dr. Sharp has her own practice, Alpha Health and Wellness, located in downtown Indianapolis, IN.

The Indianapolis professional soccer team, Indy Eleven, sought out Dr. Sharp for her care of its athletes, and she now serves as Indy Eleven’s Team chiropractor for 2020-2021. Dr. Sharp continues to spread her passion for chiropractic through education within the sports arena and into her community as well.

Sherman College named its 2020 award recipients as part of Lyceum, a homecoming and continuing education event attended by hundreds of chiropractors and students throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held each May and involves three days of seminars, special events and other programs; this year’s Lyceum was held as a live-streaming event for the first time ever to preserve this crucial continuing education opportunity for Doctors of Chiropractic. More than 700 people participated.
