A Note from the President

Sherman College of Chiropractic was founded by Drs. Thom and Betty Gelardi on the premise that its students would be educated and trained to become doctors of chiropractic who focus on the analysis and adjustment of vertebral subluxation. For 50 years, that has been our sole purpose.  We use the latest scientific objective indicators to help guide our students in the analysis of vertebral subluxation so that they are competent and confident doctors of chiropractic.

We teach the founding principles and philosophy that have stood the test of time and we offer a variety of techniques so that our students can deliver the best chiropractic adjustment that is needed for their particular patient. Knowing when and when not to adjust is the truest test of competency. Our faculty, staff and administration are committed to educating our students, knowing that this commitment will assure that communities throughout the world who are served by Sherman graduates are being served by some of the best that the profession has to offer.

Our college community is used to hearing me say phrases like “transformational change” and “preeminent chiropractic college.” Those aren’t simply buzzwords for us here at Sherman College. They truly describe what’s happening on campus, and it has been nothing short of magical to experience. Like any good chiropractic analogy, our changes are taking place from the inside out.

We have a team of expert faculty and staff – leaders in their fields – dedicated to providing our students with the best possible classroom and clinical experiences. We have fully embraced technology,
revolutionizing the delivery of the doctor of chiropractic program. We have created initiatives focused on helping our students succeed academically and thrive emotionally. We have established a business curriculum that is unrivaled among chiropractic colleges. We have incorporated evidence-based study into our program, emphasizing its importance in practice.

And our “small” college, and our world, are reaping the benefits. We have more than doubled enrollment over the past six years and expect continued growth in the years to come. We are rising to the top of the chiropractic profession with continuing education programs of the highest quality in science, philosophy and art. We are raising the profile of our institution locally by building bridges in our hometown community and contributing to the well-being of our neighbors through our on-campus Chiropractic Health Center. We are literally opening up our front doors to the community thanks to the beautiful new meeting spaces in our Gelardi Student Center.

Most importantly, we are fulfilling our mission by graduating doctors of chiropractic who bring the message of principled chiropractic and the valuable service of vertebral subluxation correction to the
betterment of their practice members and to the advancement of our profession, our community, and the world.

It is an honor to be a part of this great institution. I am proud of what we have accomplished in the last few years, and I joyfully look forward to our continued progress toward the vision.

Jack Martin Bourla DC, ACP
President
