In spring 2020, Sherman College’s Office of Academic Affairs committed its focus and resources to ensuring a smooth transition to online learning in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have been carefully monitoring events and recognize that the spread of this virus will have long-term effects on many chiropractic offices and research opportunities. Due to these considerations, we regret to announce that our 17th International Research and Philosophy Symposium (IRAPS) has been postponed until 2021.

While we are disappointed to not see everyone and hear the latest in evidence-based research and principled philosophy at IRAPS this year, the college looks forward to further improving this seminar and hosting IRAPS once again in October 2021.

The International Research and Philosophy Symposium (IRAPS) is a peer-reviewed chiropractic conference that addresses vertebral subluxation research and philosophy of chiropractic.

IRAPS brings together leaders in subluxation focused philosophy and evidence-informed research, along with practitioners and educators centered on vertebral subluxation practice, to build a stronger academic community worldwide.

Our intent is to foster a view that the chiropractic profession is:

  • Centered on vertebral subluxation
  • Based on vitalism
  • Dedicated to research
  • Developing a discipline of philosophy

We are now accepting abstracts for the 20th IRAPS, to be held in conjunction with our Lyceum 2025, May 1-3, on the Sherman College campus in Spartanburg, SC. To be considered for presentation at IRAPS 2025, abstracts must be submitted by November 1, 2024. View the detailed IRAPS Call for Abstracts or the Rubric for Peer Review

Topic may include:

  • Case studies that focus on the location, analysis and correction of vertebral subluxation (LACVS)
  • Philosophy of chiropractic as a component of LACVS type care
  • Scholarly pursuits that will advance chiropractic education, practice and the profession
