What You Should Know Before Sending in Your Admissions Documents

Here’s what you need to know as you start your application for chiropractic college:

Applying to Sherman College of Chiropractic is a simple process. You submit your application along with two essays, two letters of recommendation, your official transcripts, and that’s it! Prospective students often tend to overcomplicate the essays and the letters of recommendation, so let’s explore these documents deeper to help make this process even easier.

Essays

Your chiropractic school application requires two essays, each with a minimum of 250 words. We are not looking for a multi-page essay, rather a solid paragraph or page answering each topic. Keep in mind that more words do not always make a better essay; just focus on the content. Additionally, we do not specify any sort of special formatting for these essays. Please feel free to write them in a way that is most comfortable for you!

Our essay topics are as follows:

  • I would make an excellent doctor of chiropractic because…
  • I choose Sherman College because…

The essays are important because we do not currently have an interview process. That means the answers to these topics really allow our admissions committee to get to know you better.

Letters of Recommendation

In addition to the essays, we also require two letters of recommendation. Although we prefer that at least one of these letters comes from a chiropractor, it is not required, and it will not affect your chances of acceptance into the program if you don’t have a letter from a D.C.

Letters of recommendation can come from anyone in your life who is not a relative. Examples include a professor, former or current boss, co-worker, pastor, mentor, etc.

These recommendation letters can be sent directly from the writer or from you, whichever is most convenient. Letters of recommendation, similar to essays, are important because they help us learn more about you and your work ethic, and they give us great insight into who you are as a person.

Keep in mind that you can submit your chiropractic college application without these documents and then send them to your counselor at a later date.
