Chiropractic Power Couple: Drs. Reggie and Irene Gold

“If you’re not out to change the world, everything else is just Mickey Mouse.” – Reginald R. Gold, D.C., Ph.C.

Dr. Reggie Gold

Reginald R. Gold, D.C., Ph.C., referred to simply yet reverently as “Reggie” by most, was a lecturer, philosopher, author and Sherman College benefactor. Gold traveled the globe spreading the chiropractic message and is responsible for inspiring hundreds, likely thousands, of people of all ages to pursue careers in chiropractic. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Irene Gold, D.C.

Reggie Gold graduated summa cum laude from Palmer School of Chiropractic in 1957 and served in various leadership capacities in state and national organizations. Gold’s practice in Spring Valley, NY, was a model for chiropractic practices around the world for many years; he developed and successfully marketed a series of techniques and products to help chiropractors gain patient confidence and build their practices.

Reggie Gold assisted in the startup of Sherman College, helped establish and served as the first president of ADIO Institute which later became Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic, taught philosophy at three chiropractic colleges (including Sherman, from 1973-76) and lectured at most of the others.

Dr. Irene Gold

Irene Gold, R.N., D.C., studied nursing and earned her R.N., her B.S. in nursing, and an M.A. in school nursing. After returning to her hometown following college, she met and married Reggie Gold. She continued her nursing career for 11 years, then decided to join the chiropractic field. Irene Gold taught in several different chiropractic colleges for a number of years; first for Columbia Institute, then Sherman College, and finally Pennsylvania College of Straight Chiropractic.

Gold also taught National Board exam review classes for several years before formally establishing Irene Gold Associates in 1978. This organization is dedicated to preparing chiropractic students for a series of challenging National Board examinations. She takes great pleasure in having successfully prepared thousands of doctors for licensure since that time, including many Sherman College students and alumni. She continues to support Sherman College philanthropically as a dedicated member of the Board of Regents.
