Sherman College Celebrates 52nd Lyceum

Spartanburg, S.C. – Sherman College of Chiropractic recently honored alumni, chiropractors, and supporters during its 52nd Lyceum, a homecoming and continuing education event that attracts attendees from across the U.S. and internationally.

The college is proud to announce the following 2025 award recipients who were recognized at Lyceum:

Lifetime Regent Award: C. Randy Baze, D.C., ‘83

 Sherman College of Chiropractic presented the 2025 Lifetime Regent Recognition Award to C. Randy Baze, D.C., of Renton, WA. This award honors individuals who have been Regent donors in good standing for 30 or more consecutive years, celebrating their long-term commitment and support of the college’s mission.

 Dr. Baze, a 1983 Sherman graduate, has generously donated to Sherman College for three decades. His contributions, including funds raised from patient animal visits, have exceeded $107,000, earning him a future recognition as part of the Heritage Society Regent.

 Growing up in a horse racing family in Washington State, Dr. Baze originally pursued pre-med studies. Inspired by his positive chiropractic experience and the potential benefits for animals, he shifted his career path. After graduation, he founded Baze Chiropractic, quickly gaining a large animal patient base, at times seeing up to 100 animals per week.

Dr. Baze is a member of the Washington State Chiropractic Association and the World Chiropractic Alliance. His awards include:

• Sherman Regent of the Year (1983)
• Chiropractic Knights of the Round Table (1998)
• Chiropractic Sentinel Award (2002)
• Washington State Chiropractic Pioneer Award (2002)

He is recognized as a leading expert in animal chiropractic, regularly providing care and lecturing to advance the field.

Chiropractors of the Year Award: Richelle Knowles, D.C., ’99 and Danny Knowles, D.C., ‘96

 The Chiropractor of the Year Award recognizes chiropractors who have given extraordinary time and effort to advance Sherman College and the principled chiropractic profession. Dr. Richelle Knowles and Dr. Daniel Knowles are the recipients of the 2025 award.

A 1999 Sherman College graduate, Dr. Richelle Knowles has over 25 years of private practice experience in Boulder, Colorado. She specializes in NetworkSpinal and has taught thousands of chiropractors and students worldwide.

Dr. Richelle co-created the Mile High Chiropractic Event and Lifetime Wellness Practice, a coaching organization that empowers chiropractors to build thriving, purpose-driven practices. She serves as Vice Chair of the Sherman College Board of Trustees and on the Clinical Advisory Board of the Australian Spinal Research Foundation.

Her research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, reflecting her commitment to service, education, and the advancement of chiropractic globally.

Known as “Dr. Danny,” Dr. Daniel Knowles is a 1996 Sherman College graduate and honors graduate of NYU. He received the Clinical Distinction Award as a student and served on Sherman’s Board of Trustees for eight years.

Dr. Danny founded the Network Family Wellness Center in Boulder, Colorado, in 1999, now recognized as one of the premier NetworkSpinal offices worldwide. An international speaker, mentor, and educator with EpiEnergetics, he has trained chiropractors globally and contributed research to multiple peer-reviewed journals.

He also hosts the Mile High Podcast (2013–2025) and founded the annual Mile High Chiropractic Movement, cultivating a global community of purpose-driven chiropractors.

 Both Drs. Richelle and Danny live in Colorado with their children, Daniel and Anika, dedicating their lives to family, service, and principled chiropractic practice.

Regent of the Year: Travis M. Corcoran, D.C.

The Regent of the Year Award recognizes a member of the Sherman College Board of Regents for their outstanding and continuous contributions to the college, including leadership, student referrals, speaking engagements, and financial support. This year’s recipient is Dr. Travis M. Corcoran, D.C.

 Dr. Corcoran is a philosopher, educator, and bestselling author, dedicated to advancing self-directed learning and critical thinking through the ancient Trivium method. His book, Restoring Reason: Using the Ancient Liberal Arts to Defend Against Modern Manipulation, reflects his commitment to principled education.

A U.S. military veteran, Dr. Corcoran studied nuclear power before earning his bachelor’s degree in philosophy with a minor in biology. Today, he brings that interdisciplinary foundation to his work across healthcare and education.

He applies this interdisciplinary knowledge across healthcare and education, serving on two international boards, operating multiple healthcare practices in Europe, and founding and presiding over a chiropractic college.

He is also a graduate and instructor within Sherman’s Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers.

Dr. Corcoran actively supports numerous chiropractic organizations, including:

• Australian Spinal Research Foundation
• Delta Sigma Chi
• Sherman College of Chiropractic
• IACE, IFCO, European Chiropractic Academy

He is currently collaborating with colleagues to develop a chiropractic educational accrediting agency aligned with the principles and objectives of chiropractic care.

Community Champion Award: Brad Adkinson, D.C., A.C.P.

The Community Champion Award honors individuals, groups, or service providers demonstrating outstanding leadership and service in advancing Sherman College. This year, the recipient is Brad Atkinson, D.C., A.C.P.

Dr. Atkinson, a 2002 graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), has spent over two decades contributing to chiropractic education and practice. Driven by a commitment to helping individuals reach their full innate health potential, he has served in teaching roles at RMIT student clinics and contributed to numerous association boards and committees.

Dr. Atkinson’s dedication has earned multiple accolades:

• Associate Governor, Australian Spinal Research Foundation
• Outstanding Service Award, Victorian branch of the Chiropractic Association of Australia (2016)
• Meritorious Service Award, Australian Chiropractors Association (2018)

Inspired by completing the Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers (ACP) in 2015, Dr. Atkinson developed The Philosophy Symposium, a seminar series designed to bring ACP content to the stage and foster discussion around chiropractic philosophy across Australasia.

Dr. Atkinson lives in Melbourne, Australia, with his wife and two sons. He remains passionate about chiropractic, philosophy, and sport, continuing to advocate for the growth and advancement of the profession.

Distinguished Service Award: Jaime Browning, D.C., D.C.C.J.P., F.C.C.J.P., and Allie Hamstead, D.C., A.C.P.

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a Sherman graduate who has distinguished himself or herself through service to the community, the profession, and/or Sherman College.

Jaime Browning, D.C., D.C.C.J.P., F.C.C.J.P., and Allie Hamstead, D.C., A.C.P., are the recipients of the 2025 Sherman College of Chiropractic Distinguished Service Award.

Jaime Browning, D.C., D.C.C.J.P., F.C.C.J.P., is a 2009 Sherman College graduate and currently serves as professor and Chair of the Technique Department. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Lander University (2002) and advanced certifications in Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific (KCUCS) technique, Diplomate in Craniocervical Junction Procedures (DCCJP), and Fellow in Craniocervical Junction Procedures (FCCJP).

Since 2012, Dr. Browning has chaired Sherman College’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), overseeing human protections for research projects, and she is also a member of Converse University’s IRB (2022). She served as research chair of the ICA Upper Cervical Council (2018–2022) and was named Researcher of the Year in 2020.

Her accolades include:

• ICA Chiropractor of the Year (2024)

Dr. Browning serves on the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research Editorial Board and holds memberships in the ICA Upper Cervical Council, American Academy of Thermology (AAT), and FCLB PACE Committee.

After practicing in Easley, SC, Dr. Browning found her passion in teaching students and new graduates. She maintains a part-time practice using the Atlas Orthogonal Technique, and focuses her research on CBCT imaging and thermal analysis.

She teaches courses on:

• Upper Cervical Rationale
• Pattern Analysis
• Upper Cervical Technique
• Advanced Knee Chest

Her interests include biomechanics, skin temperature differential analysis, advanced imaging, and upper cervical theoretical concepts.

A former Lander University volleyball player and U.S. Navy Reserve member, Dr. Browning now mentors Sherman students. She and her husband, Kyle, have three children — Addison, Fisher, and General — and enjoy camping, Disney trips, and Clemson sports.

Allie Hamstead, D.C., A.C.P., a 2012 alumna of Sherman College, is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences at Sherman, where she teaches across multiple departments. In recent years, Dr. Hamstead has completed certifications with the Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers, as well as the Perinatal and Pediatric Certifications from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

A native of Spartanburg, Dr. Hamstead graduated from the University of South Carolina before returning to her roots in chiropractic. Since 2014, she has co-owned a private practice in Simpsonville with her husband, Michael Hamstead, also a 2012 graduate of Sherman College. In addition to her professional commitments, Dr. Hamstead is a busy mother to their four daughters: Evelyn (10), Cecilia (8), Josephine (5), and Eloise (1).

Spirit of Sherman College Award: Felicia Stewart, D.C., ACP, DPhCS, FCSC (hon.)

The Spirit of Sherman College Award is presented to a Sherman graduate who exemplifies the true spirit of Sherman College in their professional lives.

Felicia Stewart, D.C., ACP, DPhCS, FCSC (hon.), is the recipient of the 2025 Sherman College of Chiropractic Spirit of Sherman Award.

Dr. Steward has been in private practice since 1988, initially in Royal Oak, Michigan, and since 1991, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Alongside her practice, Dr. Stewart began teaching at Sherman College in 1991, first as a member of the clinic staff and later as a classroom instructor in 1992. She continued in these roles until 1995. A Sherman College Regent since 1997, Dr. Stewart has been a long-time presenter at the Sherman College Lyceum, contributing to the “Women in Chiropractic” forum for two decades.

She has also presented at a variety of prestigious events, including IRAPS, the KR Jones Philosophy Forum, PSCA seminars, the LCW, the LCW Nordic Alliance, the MACP, and regularly for the ACP and DACP programs. Dr. Stewart served on the board of directors for the International Federation of Chiropractors and Organizations (IFCO) from 2002 to 2015, and in 2014, she was honored as a Fellow of the College of Straight Chiropractic by the IFCO board. In 2010, she received Sherman College’s Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Stewart has been recognized by the Palmetto State Chiropractic Association (PSCA), receiving their inaugural Chairman’s Award in 2022 and the Chiropractor of the Year award in 2023. She currently serves on the PSCA board of directors and is a member of the PSCA, the ICPA, and a founding member of the Sustainability Group, a nonprofit chiropractic “think tank.”

In 2008, Dr. Stewart completed the ACP program at Sherman College and went on to earn the DPhCS program certification in 2015. With over 36 years in practice, she continues to maintain a successful family practice, deeply committed to the principles of chiropractic care.

Rising Star Award: Tara Levesque, D.C., A.C.P., and Brooke Schuessler, D.C.

The Rising Star Award is presented to a recent Sherman graduate of five years or less who has demonstrated exceptional achievements and service in their community.

Tara Levesque, D.C., A.C.P., and Brooke Schuessler, D.C., are the recipients of the 2025 Sherman College of Chiropractic Rising Star Award.

Tara Levesque, D.C., A.C.P., a 2020 graduate of Sherman College, originally from Maine, and relocated to South Carolina in 2014 with her supportive husband and son to pursue her chiropractic education. Since then, she has worked with various offices across seven states, where she has focused on implementing day-one and day-two procedures, hiring and training Chiropractic Assistants, and optimizing office operating systems.

An active member and speaker for both the Palmetto State Chiropractic Association and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, Dr. Levesque has been teaching at Sherman College for the past three years as a clinical sciences instructor. She is also the proud owner of Generations Family Chiropractic in Spartanburg, where she is celebrating her fifth year in practice.

Brooke Schuessler, D.C., a 2023 graduate of Sherman College, made history as Miss New Hampshire 2023, becoming the first-ever chiropractor to compete in the Miss America competition in 2024. Throughout her career, Dr. Schuessler has achieved numerous milestones, including serving as the Executive Director and Event Coordinator for the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation, as well as being a board member and published research author.

She is the founder of “Choose Health,” an educational program designed to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices, and also the founder of National Concussion Awareness Day®. In addition, Dr. Schuessler raised over $11,000 for the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire and has participated in eight international chiropractic mission trips.

As a passionate advocate for brain injury awareness, she has spent the past nine years lecturing as a peer-to-peer speaker for the Brain Injury Association, following her own brain injury in 2014. Dr. Schuessler co-owns a chiropractic practice in New Hampshire with her husband, John Schuessler, also a Sherman College graduate. They are excited to welcome their first child, a future chiropractor, this August.

Service to Sherman College Award: Kevin Likes

The Service to Sherman Award is presented to the individual who has demonstrated extraordinary, unselfish, and noteworthy service to Sherman College.

Kevin Likes is the recipient of the 2025 Sherman College of Chiropractic Service to Sherman College Award.

Kevin Likes serves as Sherman College’s Security and Safety Manager, where he is widely recognized for his steadfast commitment to maintaining a safe and secure campus environment, often navigating the challenges that come with this responsibility.

Since joining the Sherman College community in 2019, Kevin has consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to serving the college. He regularly goes above and beyond to support others, working diligently to establish and refine security policies and procedures, implement emergency protocols, and offering safety and security education to both students and employees.

In addition to his campus responsibilities, Kevin has built lasting, positive relationships with college constituents as well as distinguished guests and visitors.

With over 30 years of security experience and nearly a decade of service in the United States Army, Kevin brings invaluable expertise to his role, ensuring the well-being of everyone on campus.

Service to the Profession Award: Matthew McCoy, D.C., M.P.H.

The Service to the Profession Award is presented to an individual or individuals who demonstrate extraordinary, unselfish, and noteworthy service to the chiropractic profession.

Sherman College of Chiropractic presented the 2025 Service to the Profession Award to Matthew McCoy, D.C., M.P.H.

Dr. Matthew McCoy is the Vice President of the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation, CEO of McCoy Press Publishing, and CEO and co-founder of ChiroFutures. He has spent the better part of the past three decades focused on exploring the clinical and scientific facets of vertebral subluxation. He is a strong advocate of objective outcome assessment tools to evaluate subluxation both clinically and from a research perspective. As a clinician, researcher, and educator, Dr. McCoy was a Professor at Life University for 18 years and taught diagnosis, management, and research to senior-level students and served at various administrative levels during his tenure, including Director of Research. His interests also include public health, health policy, and health outcomes research.

He is presently the publisher and editor of the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health, The Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research, The Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research, The Journal of the Philosophy, Principles, and Practice of Chiropractic, and The Chiropractic Chronicle. He is the past Editor of The Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research and is a past editorial board member of Today’s Chiropractic. He has often graced the stage at Sherman’s International Research and Philosophy Symposium events. And, most importantly, Dr. McCoy currently serves as a Trustee on the Sherman College Board of Trustees and formerly served as Vice Chair of the Board.

Chiropractic Advocate of the Year Award: Kat Frazier

The Chiropractic Advocate of the Year Award is presented to a non-chiropractor who has contributed significantly and noteworthy to the advancement of Sherman College and the chiropractic profession.

Kat Frazier is the recipient of the 2025 Sherman College of Chiropractic Advocate of the Year Award.

As a devoted advocate for chiropractic for over 30 years, Kat Frazier began her journey as a patient in 1993. Her passion for the profession led her to the Michigan Chiropractic Council in 1995, where she served as executive administrator before enrolling at Life College in 1997. While in school and afterward, she worked as a chiropractic assistant for Dr. Bobby Braile, who was president of the ICA at the time. Although a cancer diagnosis in 2001 cut short her path to becoming a chiropractor, her dedication to chiropractic only grew stronger. Kat believes her 24 years of health and recovery post-cancer treatment are largely due to the life-changing impact of chiropractic care.

In 2010, Kat reentered the chiropractic field as a Chiropractic Assistant and eventually became Executive Director of the Georgia Council of Chiropractic (GCC), a position she still holds. Under her leadership, GCC hosts over 100 hours of continuing education annually and raises significant funds for chiropractic charities through its golf tournament. Kat also serves as Executive Director of Dynamic Essentials (DE), where she helped organize their 60th Anniversary Gala, a milestone event with nearly 300 attendees. She is a part-owner of ChiroSafe, a Sherman Corporate Regent company focused on IT, cybersecurity, and HIPAA HITECH compliance for chiropractors.

Kat has been a Sherman College Regent since 2015 and is a proud member of various chiropractic organizations, including the Florida Chiropractic Society, Palmetto State Chiropractic Association, New York Chiropractic Council, Alliance of New Mexico Chiropractors, IFCO, ICA, and the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation. She represents GCC and DE on the Chiropractic Freedom Coalition and has contributed to organizing its annual meetings. Kat has also served as a site evaluator for the IACE and on several committees dedicated to preserving subluxation-based chiropractic.

A seasoned speaker, Kat has taught Georgia Laws and Rules for GCC and shared her personal story on ICA and Florida Band of Brothers calls. Through her leadership, unwavering advocacy, and commitment to the principles of chiropractic, Kat continues to make a lasting impact on the profession and future generations.

Kat has been married to Lee Frazier for nearly 32 years. Together, they adopted three children in 1999 and are proud grandparents, including their granddaughter, Miss Nevaeh Grace, who is well-loved in the chiropractic community. Kat, Lee, and Nevaeh reside in Blackshear, Georgia, where they enjoy quiet country life and are active in their local church, all while traveling to chiropractic seminars.

Student Leaders of the Year Award: DC2Bs Arianne Colabella and Sophia Sherman

The Student of the Year is awarded to an exceptional student leader who has participated in recruiting activities that have led to the enrollment of students at Sherman College.

Arianne Colabella is the recipient of the 2025 Sherman College of Chiropractic Student Leader of the Year Award.

Arianne Colabella, DC2B, also known as “Air,” is an 11th-quarter student at Sherman College who has made significant contributions to campus life. Serving as the Secretary of Chiropractic Student Government for 2024 and 2025, she is also Sherman College’s representative for the NBCE Leadership Forum. Air is deeply involved in various aspects of campus, including her roles on the Student Conduct Review Board, the Clinic Advisory Board, and as the founder of both the Military Banquet Initiative and The Remarkable Practice Club.

In addition to her leadership roles, Air has served as Vice President of the Torque Release Technique Club, participated in the FOCUS and ICPA clubs, and creatively contributed to Sherman College by winning the t-shirt design contest. As a Student Ambassador, she actively participates in Showcase Sherman events, helping attract new students to the college. And, just this week, Air was named Chiropractic Center Intern of the Month.

Air’s commitment to professional development is evident in her pursuit of ICPA Certification by the Academy of Chiropractic Pediatrics. She plans to open a family chiropractic practice in Charleston, South Carolina, in the summer of 2026 alongside her fiancé, Tyler Hawke, a December 2024 graduate of Sherman College.

Sophia Sherman, DC2B, is a dedicated student known for her leadership, service, and academic excellence. Currently serving as the ACE Intern and President of the Student Ambassador program, she plays an essential role in mentoring her peers, building a strong chiropractic community, and helping to attract new students through her involvement in Showcase Sherman events. Sophia is Thompson Club Certified and contributes to Sherman College as a student member of the faculty hiring committee.

She has been recognized for her leadership and community service, receiving both the K.R. Jones Memorial Scholarship and the World Congress of Women Chiropractors (WCWC) Scholarship. In addition, Sophia holds a Pediatric Certification and is an active member of PAL, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness within the community. With a passion for advancing patient care, Sophia is deeply committed to advancing patient care and the future of chiropractic.

Reach Out And Recruit (ROAR) Supporter of the Year Award: Danielle Armold, M.S., D.C., C.A.H.T.A

The ROAR Supporter of the Year award is given to an exceptional ROAR member who has exceeded expectations in recruiting students to Sherman College.

Danielle Armold, M.S., D.C., C.A.H.T.A., is the recipient of the 2025 Sherman College of Chiropractic Reach Out And Recruit (ROAR) Supporter of the Year Award.

Dr. Danielle Armold is a 2018 graduate of Sherman College of Chiropractic and a passionate advocate for natural health and wellness. She holds a Master of Science in Nutrition from Logan University in 2020 and is currently completing her Doctorate in Health Professions Education (Ed.D.) at Logan University, with anticipated graduation later this year.

Dr. Armold has advanced training in pediatric chiropractic through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and specializes in family wellness care. Her practice spans all ages—from newborns to seniors in their 90s. She utilizes a variety of adjusting techniques, including Full Spine, Upper Cervical, Knee Chest, Side Posture Toggle, Gonstead, Diversified, Webster, Thompson, and Activator, tailoring care to meet each patient’s unique needs.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Armold is actively involved in professional education, particularly in raising awareness about human trafficking. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her two children, Jackson and Carter, and creating meaningful experiences together.

Her mission is clear: to help people get well and stay well, without drugs or surgery, so they can live life to the fullest.
