Sherman Faculty Publish Upper Cervical Research

We are proud to celebrate the recent publication of a significant research study authored by Sherman College faculty members Dr. Alan Brewster, Dr. Christine Theodossis, and Dr. Laura Orndorff. Their work appears in the latest issue of the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research, a respected publication that advances knowledge in the specialized field of upper cervical chiropractic care.

The article, titled “Prevalence of Styloid Elongation/Stylohyoid Calcification Relative to Atlas Transverse Process: A Retrospective Radiographic Study,” offers valuable insight into anatomical variations that may impact chiropractic diagnosis and treatment, especially in the upper cervical region. Through a detailed retrospective radiographic review, this study investigates the prevalence of styloid elongation and stylohyoid calcification in relation to the atlas transverse process, providing data that could have important clinical implications for practitioners.

This research is an important addition to the chiropractic body of knowledge, particularly in refining upper cervical analysis techniques and enhancing the accuracy of chiropractic assessments. The study highlights the commitment of Sherman College’s faculty to advancing evidence-informed care, ensuring that chiropractic practice remains grounded in scientific research and clinical excellence.

We encourage students, practitioners, and the chiropractic community to read and explore this insightful study, which contributes meaningfully to the field’s understanding of anatomical variations and their relevance in chiropractic care.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Brewster, Dr. Theodossis, and Dr. Orndorff on this outstanding achievement. Their dedication to research and education continues to elevate Sherman College’s role as a leader in chiropractic scholarship.
