Sherman College students Kathleen Costello, M.S., Kathryn Heidt, M.S., and Hui Zhen Lim have been awarded research fellowships from the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation (FVS) and ChiroFutures Malpractice Program.
Costello’s research fellowship will focus on two crucial areas related to vertebral subluxation including vertebral subluxation epidemiology and the objective assessment of subluxation in a salutogenic model. Heidt and Lim’s fellowships will focus on best practices and guideline development for management of vertebral subluxation; the two will join a team at FVS to develop a permanent and ongoing best practices initiative for the profession.
“The results of this type of research can be used to drive policy, not only in health care, but in education and other sociocultural arenas,” said Christopher Kent D.C., J.D., of the studies these students will take on. Kent serves as president of FVS and as director of evidence-informed curriculum and practice at Sherman College of Chiropractic.
