Upstate Education Leaders Meet to Discuss Collaboration and Connectivity

Sherman College Provost Bob Irwin, D.C., joined more than 40 local leaders—including public school superintendents, college and university presidents, and business executives—for a candid discussion on improving educational and economic outcomes for children in Upstate South Carolina.

The event, hosted by Ten at the Top and Public Education Partners, took place on February 28 at the Tri-County Tech Easley campus.

“Sherman College is proud to support and contribute to this important discussion focused on helping the students of the Upstate,” Irwin said. Sherman College participates in Ten at the Top as a benefactor partner, emphasizing its commitment to regional education initiatives.

Upstate South Carolina includes 23 public school districts and more than 20 technical, two-year, and four-year colleges and universities, along with post-graduate programs—all working to advance student success. The region also hosts thousands of businesses with specific workforce needs, many of which rely on locally educated talent.

In a region where education and economic success are closely linked, fostering coherence and connectivity between schools, colleges, and businesses can provide even greater value for students and employers alike.
