Lakeview, MI, chiropractors Gary and Cathleen Padden, D.C.s, have been presented the Thom and Betty Gelardi Service Award by Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC. The Thom and Betty Gelardi Service Award is presented at the discretion of the president and therefore not awarded every year. This award was created to honor the Gelardis (Sherman College’s founders) and also the recipients who are deemed to have the same qualities as the Gelardis. It is given to individuals to recognize their unselfish dedication, visionary leadership and pioneering spirit.

“Our most sincere appreciation goes to Drs. Cathleen and Gary Padden for their meaningful contributions to the future of Sherman College and for helping to ensure that the profession is alive and well for future generations,” said Sherman President Edwin Cordero, D.C.

Drs. Gary and Cathleen Padden are 1983 and 1985 Sherman College graduates and have inspired many individuals to become chiropractors during their careers; so far they have sent 18 students to Sherman College. The couple founded Lakeview Family Chiropractors and have been serving the Lakeview area since 1986, placing focus on providing quality chiropractic care for entire families. They are joined in practice by their son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Andrew and Tiffany Padden.

Drs. Gary and Cathleen Padden are members of the Michigan Association of Chiropractors and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association; they attend continuing education seminars regularly to stay up-to-date on the current techniques and standards to best serve their patients. The couple treasure their time with family: son and daughter-in-law, Sherman graduates Drs. Andrew and Tiffany Padden and granddaughter Johanna; and daughter and son-in-law Allyse and Jon Henderson and grandson Jae.

Sherman College named its 2019 award recipients in May as part of Lyceum, an annual continuing education and homecoming event attended by hundreds of chiropractors and students from throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held each spring in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events and other programs; this year approximately 700 were in attendance.
