R.S. Porter, D.C., Named ROAR Supporter of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic

Huntsville, AL, chiropractor R.S. Porter, D.C., was recently named Reach Out and Recruit (ROAR) Supporter of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC, in appreciation of his contributions, time and commitment to growing the chiropractic profession.

The ROAR Supporter of the Year award is given to an exceptional ROAR member who has gone above and beyond to recruit students to Sherman College. ROAR asks its doctors to reach beyond their comfort zone and help Sherman recruit future leaders for the profession, which Dr. Porter has certainly done.

A 2013 graduate of Sherman College of Chiropractic, and currently in private practice in Huntsville, AL, Dr. R.S. Porter frequently attends upper cervical seminars and has trained in multiple upper cervical techniques. Dr. Porter’s passion to combine Upper Cervical care and corrective exercise led him to open Functional Chiropractic in Huntsville, where he lives with his wife, Teri.

Dr. Porter is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) not only as a personal trainer, but also as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Sports Performance Specialist. He is an active member in several chiropractic groups beyond Sherman College’s ROAR program, including the Georgia Council of Chiropractic, Dynamic Essentials and the Blair Upper Cervical Society. He is Webster Technique Certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Sherman College named its 2020 award recipients as part of Lyceum, a homecoming and continuing education event attended by hundreds of chiropractors and students throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held each May and involves three days of seminars, special events and other programs; this year’s Lyceum was held as a live-streaming event for the first time ever to preserve this crucial continuing education opportunity for Doctors of Chiropractic. More than 700 people participated.
